Westworld Season 4 1930's Mob Theme Park, Release Date and The Man in Black

Westworld is an American dystopian science fiction, neo-Western television series created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. The HBO original series is one of the most mind bending pieces of cinema ever made. Aside from complex narrative and complex characters, it boasts impressive VFX, beautiful cinematography, and a powerful cast ensemble. Much like Game of Thrones, the series doesn’t have one particular lead but multiple characters who have a love-hate relationship with the viewers. The best part about this series is that there are no black and white characters but all of them are grey. With two outstanding seasons and one train-wreck, Westworld is back with season 4.

Westworld Season 4 Release Date

Westworld Season 4 trailer debuted last week which you access above. Talking about it’s release date, Westworld season 4 is set to premiere on June 26, 2022. In the trailer you can see that most of the major characters have returned including Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores, Thandiwe Newton’s Maeve, Jeffrey Wright’s Bernard, Aaron Paul’ Caleb, Tessa Thompson’s Charlotte/ New Dolores, Ed Harris’ Man in Black and Luke Hemsworth’s Ashley Stubbs. In the world of Westworld, characters resurrect as often as they die hence Evan Rachael Wood’s Dolores is back even after being erased in Season 3.

Westworld Season 4 Will Feature a 1930’s Theme Park

One of the exciting things fans spotted in the trailer was a 1930’s like setting in a few scenes. In one particular scene, a Tommy Gun is being used by a shady figure dressed like a Peaky Blinders characters. So, fans are speculating that Westworld Season 4 will feature a new kind of theme park with a 1930’s mob like setting where travelers can roleplay a mobster or police as they wish.

This would a nice transition from the West Wild theme park which was ruined at the end of season 2. But honestly, Wild West was what made Westworld, Westworld. Even though season 3 showcased a VFX heavy and visually stunning futuristic world, the show didn’t feel like the Westworld we all loved. That was precisely the reason season 3 did not work and from the trailer, it seems like the creators haven’t learned their lesson yet. Even though 1930’s like Mob era sounds amazing, it would be best to take viewers back to West View to save the show.

Westworld Season 4 Man in Black

The most disappointing thing about Westworld season 3 was how they completely massacred Ed Harris’ character The Man in Black. Man in Black’s character arc was one of the best things about Westworld and season 1’s William reveal was one of the greatest scenes in the history of TV. But for some reasons, HBO decided to butcher this fan favorite character and he was featured in hardly 3 episodes in season 3.

That aside, in an awful sequence at the end of season 3, a host William kills the real William and takes him place as the Man in Black. This is the Man in Black that we saw in the trailer and fans were really upset with this scene. The Man in Black was on a journey of redemption since Season 2 and this move was really unwanted and unpleasant. I’d rather have a dead William on the show than a host version of him. But HBO will continue using these characters till they become absolutely intolerable like Dolores in Season 3.

It’s being said theorized that this host version of The Man In Black is all set to kill everyone. He’ll probably go on a rampage against humans or something like that. Huh, after Game of Thrones’ season 8 massacre, it seems like Westworld would suffer the same fate at the hands of HBO. Let’s hope Season 4 manages to turn things around and defy my expectations, which are honestly very low.

  1. Westworld should have a plagiarism park where the robots uphold the park visitor’s lie, no matter how stupid his writing becomes.

  2. I personally have loved all 3 seasons. I’m glad they’ve left the park behind for the most part. Cannot wait for S4. Is it the last or will there be an S5? Can’t remember if they’ve said.

    1. Doesn’t look like it’ll be the last. But let’s wait for some leakes or official info.
