James Wan is one of the most prolific directors working in the industry as of today. He specializes in horror movies and not one horror film has been disappointing. He is one of the pioneers of redefining the horror genre in 2000s. It all started with Saw. After making one of the best films for an extremely cheap budget, James Wan was apparently being head hunted for new projects. His movie gave birth to an entire franchise with one of the most iconic faces in horror films: the Jigsaw Killer. All the films that came after the original Saw movie were never up to the quality of the original but still the sequels released. After making Saw he went on to make films like The Conjuring, Insidious. Both of these films were converted into franchises as well. His latest project Malignant was awesome and I’ve been waiting to see what he does next and today we know as his next venture M3GAN trailer is out.
M3GAN: Sci-Fi Meets Horror!
The premise of M3GAN is simple but effective. After losing her family one girl is taken under her aunt’s full custody. Where in order to mix-up with people and forget the past, the aunt introduces the girl to her newest invention- A doll that will act as a human and will fill the void of a friend. The doll starts off with happy moments but soon as we’d suspected, the doll reveals its true colors as it gets obsessed with the little girl and will do anything to keep her safe. So from being a sci-fi film it quickly transferred into a horror one.
The trailer looks good, although I think they’ve revealed too much in the trailer. The trailer has that creepy feeling, it has gore and from the looks of it, many kills, but it has some unintentionally funny moments. Like the robot M3GAN dancing in the trailer out of nowhere. Hopefully it won’t be the same when we watch the film. The upcoming horror film is a collaboration between Blumhouse Productions, Wan’s Atomic Monster Productions, and will be distributed by Universal. The film is produced by James Wan and he has also has a story by credit.
The film will be directed by Gerard Johnstone. The cast for the film includes Allison Williams, Violet McGraw and Jenna Davis.
