Avatar 2

It has been twelve years later since we’ve heard from Pandora and now we’re getting a sequel to the highest grossing movie of all time-Avatar 2: The Way of Water, The sequel has been in the works for a long time as James Cameron, director of Avatar wanted to expand on the world created by him. After Disney’s acquisition of Fox, they not only green lit the sequel rather other 4 follow-up films as well that are suppose to release every 2 years. The studio has sure put in a lot of trust in Cameron and given his track record with box office numbers, they’ve taken a calculated risk. Earlier this year we’d gotten our first look at the sequel as the official teaser was released by Disney. Since then we’ve been getting small nuggets of information and footages for the sequel but no official trailer yet.

Some official images have been released that give us an idea of what specific characters will look like in the sequel. Like Kate Winslet’s Na’vi. Considering the budget the sequel is being made on i.e., $250 million it is fair to say Cameron is cooking something meaty for the audiences. The visuals in the film might and should be better than the original, the heavy post production work might be the reason behind the trailer being delayed but the wait is finally over as the official trailer of the sequel has been released!

Avatar 2: The Way of Water Looks Pristine!

I loved the trailer of Avatar: The Way of Water simply because how vague it keeps the plot of the film. The trailer only focuses on enthralling and soaking us in this beautiful world of Pandora that is facing impending doom. We see some of the characters we that Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana’s Neytiri. We’re introduced to the daughter that they have and it feels like Neytiri is missing or has been kidnapped and the film will focus on that, I don’t know in how much detail.

The one aspect of the trailer that I didn’t enjoy was the visuals, they’re not bad but they’re not so good either. They’re what we find in any big budget film these days. The reason Avatar was ground breaking was because of the quality of the visuals, however, the sequel is somewhere lost in the saturation of the VFX movies that we get these days. I hope we the film is able to separate itself from that pile. I personally expected more from a master filmmaker like James Cameron when it comes to visuals.

I loved how the trailer is edited and the music associated with it is extremely soothing and suites the tone. I love how the storytelling in the trailer itself is mostly visual and done in an economical way. The sequel looks interesting, I just hope that there are many more visually stunning set pieces in it.
