The hype around Sony’s Morbius is now rising, and its not just because it’s the first time Morbius is getting a live action adaptation. Sony’s Rebooted Spiderverse began with Venom (2018). While Venom is set in a different universe, the upcoming film Morbius looks like it’s based in the world of MCU’s main Earth Spiderman. Many of the keen-eyed viewers noticed Michael Keaton’s Vulture in the trailer. Also, with Kraven The Hunter coming soon, Sony has now set the stage for its Sinister Six Project. So, many fans are sure to watch this film regardless of its reviews. But for those of you who are skeptical about it, here’s what the early reactions suggest.
Morbius Early Reactions Call It A Snooze Fest
Sony Spiderverse’s Morbius has received widely negative reactions which basically bash every aspect of the film. From plot and storytelling to editing and CGI, everything has been criticized by the viewers. Generally, even the superhero films which fail plot wise have fine visuals and sound immersion. But it seems like Morbius lacks there as well. While Venom series, which started Sony’s endeavors, itself isn’t very great, but it surely has its moments. From the looks of it, Morbius seems to be a lack luster in every department.
Not Connected to Anything?
Morbius is set in its own universe, not connected to Venom, the MCU, nothing. pic.twitter.com/G6CyCG6W87

The thing which got many fans excited about Morbius in the first place were its speculated connections to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Venomverse. A few days it was informed that most connection based scenes we saw in the trailers have been removed from the film. So, it seems like for now this film is on its own and doesn’t seem to be doing all that good for itself.
Matt Smith Is The Only Positive
Among all the negativity, The Crown, Doctor Who and The House of Dragon famed actor Matt Smith seems to be doing good for himself, again.
Well #Morbius is unfortunately not great (some really shoddy vfx & 00s formulaic plot) & definitely not as fun as Venom. Really confused at the future of the Sony Spiderverse following the post-credits scenes & the editing 🤷♀️ Matt Smith is clearly having a blast though! pic.twitter.com/ZCz8aLeUL0

Morbius Post Credit Scenes Set Up Sinister Six – Spoiler Alert!!!
For the suckers of crossover events, there seems to be a good news though. Morbius has two post credits scenes which set up Sony’s Sinister Six or some kind of team up. In the mid-credits scene, Michael Keaton’s Vulture from MCU will pop up in Morbius’ universe and will be released from the prison. In the after-credits scene he will fly up to Morbius in his Vulture suit and propose a team up to kill Spiderman. While I think these scenes totally mess up the MCU Spiderman, what do you think about them?
Morbius Probably Won’t Have A Sequel

Well, though its a rumor, it seems to be not only possible, but probable. With such bad reviews and little to no hype, it’s safe to say that Morbius won’t do as good as some of you expected. Also, the character itself doesn’t have too many interesting or intriguing stories to tell. Morbius is best used as a part of a team or at least as a Spiderman antagonist. Giving him a solo film to lead, didn’t seem like a very good idea in the first place. Anyways, that’s it for Morbius’ early reactions.
Morbius hits theatres on April 1, 2022.
