Deadpool 3 - Hugh Jackman Reveals The Truth About His Wolverine Return!

Deadpool was released in 2016 and despite it being R-Rated it was a box office juggernaut. With great critical reception and an amazing box office run it was natural that a sequel was happening. Deadpool 2 came out in 2018 and was a success again. It was not as good as the first film but it was not a disappointment. It was going great until Disney acquired Fox, which was great news as now the MCU would have all their heavy hitters. The problem was that this put the Deadpool franchise in danger of a reboot and an actor change. However, Marvel had clarified a long time ago that they won’t reboot the Deadpool movies and won’t replace as Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. This meant that Marvel would have to find a creative and seamless way to bring Deadpool 3 into the MCU.

While the updates regarding the film have been sparse we knew that the film is coming soon. After Marvel, skipped announcing absolutely anything about the film at D23 Expo and San Diego Comic Con, they’ve spilled out some information later on. A month ago, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman announced Deadpool 3 and Jackman’s return knocked the hats off fans’ heads. This news shocked everyone as we all expected that Reynolds would return as Deadpool in the MCU as well but no one thought Jackman would reprise his long running role of Wolverine ever again especially after sternly announcing his retirement from the character before Logan after he had already played the character for over 17 years.

Months after the announcement we finally have the truth behind what happened transpired that convinced Hugh Jackman to return as Wolverine. Let’s take a look as it is really interesting.

Deadpool 3 – Hugh Jackman Always Wanted To Return As Wolverine?

Recently in an interview with Deadline, Hugh Jackman revealed the truth about how he agreed to return as Wolverine after announcing his retirement. The actor revealed, “Well, I was 20 minutes into watching Deadpool and I had just announced, literally, a few weeks before that Logan was going to be my last, which I fully intended. And then I was like, “Uh-oh.”

The Deadpool 3 actor continued, “And here’s maybe a bit of a hangover from Florian. I was just driving out to the beach. It was mid-August, I had a week off from the show [The Music Man on Broadway], my first week off in eight, nine months, 10 months. And it came to me like, ‘I really want to do that.’ And that was it.”

He further added, “As soon as I arrived at the beach, I rang Ryan [Reynolds] just to see what the hell was going on. And then here we are. It was so quick. And trust me, there’s not a morning I don’t wake up where Ryan Reynolds is outside my house with posters saying, “Please.” He’s constantly asking me about it. And I was like, ‘Dude, I’m done. I’m done, I’m done, I’m done, I’m done, I’m done.’ So then when he rang me [back], he was like, ‘Are you serious?’ So yeah.”

In conclusion the actor said, “I’m a terrible poker player. All this time I was saying I was done, I really meant it. But anyway, somewhere deep down, this idea was obviously lurking and brewing.”

Deadpool 3 is slated to release on 6th September 2024 in MCU’s Phase 6.
