Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the newest Marvel film and the last one of Phase 4, is now out in theatres. Filmmaker Ryan Coogler returned to write and direct this sequel and for the most part he did not disappoint. The film stars Letitia Wright, Angela Basset, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Winston Duke, Tenoch Huerta, Danai Gurira, etc. Letitia Wright’s Shuri has now been promoted to the protagonist of the series after Chadwick Boseman’s tragic demise. In a rapidly falling MCU, Ryan Coogler somehow managed to make this film work and this is not just my opinion but the box office numbers are an evidence of the same. The film is roaring at the box office and has now set a new Box Office Record for 2022!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Is Doing Great at the Box Office!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is doing really well at the box office, however, you need to know exactly how well. Wakanda Forever’s opening weekend collection beat out Black Adam’s lifetime collection. The film’s tragic undertone is really connecting with the audiences, given the times we live in and the passing of Chadwick Boseman. The film was one number one of the domestic box office for its first two weeks, which was expected. No one was expecting any film to beat Wakanda Forever on its weekend opening.

The film maintained its hype throughout the second week of its run as well. Moreover it even managed to hold its throne of number 1 spot at the domestic box office. This was expected as whenever every Marvel movie is released, all the other studios make sure that their release is at least 3 weeks apart from the MCU flick. Well, it has been three weeks after the film’s release and it still isn’t willing to stop as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has maintained the top spot at the domestic box office consecutively for four weeks.

This is a record in itself. The film grossed $17.6 Million which was more than expected bringing its domestic collection to $393 Million. It beat out the new release Violent Night and is the third highest grossing film of 2022 with $733 Million worldwide. It is on its course to beat its MCU predecessor Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which gathered $955 Million. There is a real possibility that the film might beat Doctor Strange 2, however, I don’t think it can beat the 2022 box office juggernaut i.e., Top Gun: Maverick which has $1.48 Billion. Also, with Avatar 2 coming out 10 days from now, the chances are next to impossible.
