If there is anyone who is in the toughest spot in Hollywood right now then it has to be DC. In fact in their entire history, I think this is the most difficult time for DC. The shake-ups that have been going on be that Walter Hamada’s firing, Accusations surrounding Ezra Miller, Batgirl’s cancellation, Peter Safran and James Gunn’s appointment as New Heads, Cancellations of projects like Wonder Woman 3 and Man of Steel 2. Really Warner Bros. is in a huge mess when it comes to managing its asset called DC which has become more of a liability. However, Warner Bros. wants to make amends as they’re ready to start anew, however for that they’d have to start by finding someone who can have that singular, defining vision for their cinematic universe.
Basically, their Kevin Feigi and as we’re aware they did indeed find that person or rather persons as Warner Bros. announced Peter Safran and James Gunn as Co-Heads. The duo will lead the DCU in its future and they’d start that making a ten year plan. The duo has been facing a lot of criticism online because of the cancellation of many slated movies. Primarily, the backlash was regarding replacing actors like Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot who had just announced their return. However, it looks like even if Wonder Woman 3 might be cancelled, Gal Gadot might still hang around at DC as Wonder Woman.
James Gunn Not Replacing Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman?
December has been a very difficult time for DC fans as they had to say many goodbyes to some of their favorite superheroes. The reboot that Gunn and Safran are planning comes at the cost of replacing various favorite actors who have really gotten into their groove as these characters. Henry Cavill’s replacement hurts the most as the actor just lost two of his biggest jobs in less than a month. However, it might not be the same for his co-actor Gal Gadot as she might still be DC’s Wonder Woman.
DC studios Head, James Gunn dropped a hint that they might not be replacing Gadot as Wonder Woman in their reboot. Gunn answered a comment from a fan who said, “Cannot wait to see what you’re cooking up… That being said the move to boot Cavill and Gadot (especially after they announced their return) doesn’t inspire confidence.” Gunn’s reply to this is very interesting that it defies practically everything that we’ve heard these past weeks. Gunn said, “I’m not sure where you’re getting that we ‘booted Gal.”
This is not the first time Gunn has fired back at comments and debunked various rumors, most recently, he also put an end to the rumors that The Suicide Squad actors are being replaced. Check out Gunn’s reply in the image:
DCU’s next movie: Shazam! Fury of the Gods is slated to release in theatres on 17th March 2023.
