Dragon Ball Super Chapter 89 Will Show Trunks Mai Romance and Comedy - Preview

As we all know, the Dragon Ball saga which spans decades has never been high on romance. However, the next chapter aka Chapter 89 will be a rom-com of sorts before Dr. Hedo and the Androids start wrecking havoc across the country. Ending Note of DBS Chapter 88 read, “What’s on the disc that Trunks found…? Next time, Hedo’s operation begins!!” So, yes, next chapter will take things slow and build upon what we experienced in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Anyways, following are the most important notes from Toyotaro’s interview this morning on the official DB site courtesy of Geekdom101:

They always planned Freiza to return at the end of the Granolah arc as the “Hidden Character”. He wanted to make it impactful. The name was derived from a BLACK credit card being ahead of a GOLD one. It was Toyotaro and Victory Uchida’s idea to color him Black.  When it comes to the Super Hero manga arc, he met under Toriyama to discuss making a smaller and simpler story, on Earth, with Goku and Vegeta taking a back seat to other characters.

Toyotaro revealed that he wanted to do a story about Trunks years before the Super Hero movie was greenlit, but didn’t think it would fit with the story. He wanted to do a spin-off.  e submitted several variations on the story arc before being accepted to make what it is now. As for chapter 89, he confirmed a romance between Trunks and Mai in the current story arc. Toyotaro said next chapter will have a fun twist and that Mai will be going to that high school. She will be Trunks classmate and he promised more romantic moments, something which has been missing from DB since forever. Toyotaro also shared that he loves the characters of Dr. Hedo, Orange Piccolo, and Gohan Beast and remarked that he missed drawing normal humans rather than aliens and Saiyans. Finally, he also said that more information about Dr. Gero’s disc will be revealed next chapter and that the story arc is about how Hedo wound up arrested.

That’s pretty much about it today. Dragon Ball Super Chapter 89 is all set to release this month and to know more about it, check here.
