Dragon Ball Super Manga’s latest and newest arc has officially begun with Chapter 88 and is being called the “Super Hero” Arc. Granolah Arc, which began back with Chapter 67 has effectively ended with Chapter 87 in August which also brought an end to the battle between the Saiyans and Gas as a part of the Granolah Arc. Fans called this arc overextended and tiresome, full of multiple storylines and unnecessary subplots. Anyways, now that Granolah arc has ended everyone is looking forward to what’s next and that is exactly what this article is about as we’ll be discussing one of the potentially best upcoming battles in the manga.
Dragon Ball Super: Yes Gohan Beast Is Coming to Manga
As you may know, the manga is already quite ahead from where the anime left off and till now there is no mention of Beast Gohan. In fact, Gohan has went back to being underpowered like he was during majority of Dragon Ball Super. But as it happens, DBS: Super Hero takes place after the Galactic Patrol Arc/Moro Arc and the Granolah arc. The latest arc is called “Super Hero” arc and will adapt the events of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, which means yes, Gohan Beast, Orange Piccolo, and Broly are coming to the manga pretty soon. Dr. Hedo has already been introduced in Chapter 88 and we are now officially on the path to DB glory.
The good thing is that we know Black Frieza is out there and will return someday, so we have the upcoming big bad already set up. Honestly, Frieza has been too overused by DBS but as long as they still have good stories to tell, it is fine. After all, Frieza has played a major part in how our heroes turned out to be and continues to have a great impact on the Dragon Ball saga, something which we all felt during Universe Survival Saga. Anyways, leaving aside Black Frieza for a moment, we know that some new Androids, a mini boss (for Trunks and Goten), Gamma 1, Gamma 2, and Cell Max are all lined up as the upcoming antagonists in Super Hero Arc which might go on for 10 or so more issues. But ultimately, the next big bad is going to be Black Frieza.
Goku and Vegeta are off to train harder and this is where we might see the introduction of Broly in the manga. Literally all these Saiyans have been wronged by Frieza, so we are sure they will go up against him in what we’ll call the “Black Frieza Arc”. But for how long will Goku and Vegeta save the day and till how long will characters like Gohan, Trunks, Goten be sidelined? As it happens, this time most fans actually want someone else to take the win and who’s better equipped for it than Gohan? That’s right, Gohan had surpassed everyone in the Cell Saga and since then Piccolo, Goku and even Vegeta have expresssed their disappointment in how he Gohan chose not to train.
With basically every fan and every character on DB agreeing that Gohan has the most latent ability among all the fighters of Universe 7, he has to be the one to carry on the good work of his father and uncle. Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero did him a huge favor and gave him one hell of an upgrade in the form of Gohan Beast. Now that he is technically as powerful as Goku imperfect Ultra Instinct, he has a chance to go up against threats of that levels. This means we might see Gohan Beast go up against Black Frieza in the upcoming arc of the manga. As you might remember, Gohan once beat Frieza (second form) to a pulp and in return got smacked pretty bad in Golden Frieza saga. Now it is time to settle the score once and all and let these two power houses battle it out.
Who would win among them you ask? Well, for now Black Frieza is way stronger than anyone in the universe but given the potential Gohan has always shown, it would be crazy to bet against the guy. Cell did it twice and got his ass beat twice, so underestimating him would be a gigantic mistake. That said, we do expect that Gohan Beast and Black Frieza get to fight at least once, even if Gohan ultimately doesn’t end up being the one who defeats him. What are your thoughts on the matter?
