Even after being a classic assassin story, John Wick (2014) brought a lot of new things to the table. Its highly slick and stylized action was something viewers had never seen before and the way it built-up its protagonist is still unmatched. That aside, the Gun-Fu action style it showcased became a USP of John Wick and so did Keanu Reeves’ portrayal of the character. Well, as expected the tremendous success of the film launched a franchise which debuted John Wick: Chapter 2 in 2017, and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum in 2019. Both these films opened to tons of critical acclaim and were praised for being consistent in quality. The franchise never lost its identity but kept on getting better and better, both action and world-building wise. As a result, we are about to get John Wick: Chapter 4 in just a few months as well as John Wick: Chapter 5. But that’s not it, as we are also all set to receive a spin-off called “Ballerina” starring none other than Ana De Armas.
Ana De Armas and Keanu Reeves’ Big Action Scene In John Wick Spin-Off
First off all, of you are not aware about this project, let us detail some of it basics. Ballerina is a John Wick spin-off that will see Ana de Armas introduced in this twisted world of assassins. The spin-off reportedly show a lot more of the assassin world then we have seen in the John Wick movies and will showcase the training of assassins which we saw a glimpse of in John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum. I’d like you to recall the scene where John visits Anjelina Huston‘ The Director in a theatre and we see some girls performing ballet. The basic story here is that even though many of the girls go there to become assassins, they’re still all taught ballet. One of them is going to be Rooney portrayed by the rising superstar of Hollywood – Ana De Armas.
Today we some amazing new information about the movie as it confirms two very important things. First is that Keanu Reeves is surely going to be in the film as John Wick. Second is that even though the extent of his role is unknown at this point, he will star alongside Ana in at least one big action sequence. While talking about the same Ana said:
“We’ve been in Prague filming for four months. We still have one more month to go. And I’m in pain. You know, my body, my back, everything hurts. I’m complaining, I’m sore, I’m bruised. Bond was fifteen minutes. This is a whole movie, another level. But the other day, Keanu and I were rehearsing our very difficult stunt scene, and this man is just rolling and throwing me and doing crazy stunts. And I’m like — I can’t complain anymore. Because he is doing it! He truly is the best.”
From her statement “rolling and throwing me”, it looks like they might actually fight each other than fighting together but we don’t know for sure. Anyways, its clear that the film is going to be high on action and Keanu and Ana are going to deliver some incredible on screen stunts. Ana is quickly becoming an action star with some crazy stunt-work in No Time To Die and The Gray Man. Honestly, we all knew that one day we’ll actually see her in the John Wick franchise and that has happened. What’s next big action franchise for her? Mission Impossible maybe? It’s possible! Ballerina doesn’t have a release date as of yet but is rumored to come out in late 2023 or early 2024. John Wick: Chapter 4 is slated to release to on 24th March 2023.
