The Flash was always going to be important for the DCEU as it was supposed to result into some kind of soft reboot that will allow Warner Bros. to put a carpet on their past mistakes (2017’s Justice League) and start anew where they churn out the weed but are still able to use the parts that work. The movie faced a lot of issues for obvious reasons but after Warner Bros. decided to go on with the film, its release date was carved in stone. The trailer for the film is supposed to drop soon as well. And before that, a new merch has given us our first look at Ezra Miller’s Flash suit. Check it out below.
The Flash Costume Inspired From New Flash 52?
Almost six months before the film’s release, fans have gotten their first detailed look at Ezra Miller’s Flash’s new super suit that will feature in the film. The suit appeared on The Flash-themed Bluetooth speaker (via Mikhail Villarreal on Twitter) now available at Walmart, Miller’s Barry Allen can be seen in new Flash armor. This marks the very time first time that we have gotten to know anything substantial about the Flash’s suit in the new film. The costume in the official merchandise is of course showing off the Scarlet Speedster’s new red and gold outfit.
Along with this, the Flash appears in the character’s iconic lightning bolts and helmet. Glowing veins of energy are also seen throughout his body. Lately, all the glimpses that we’d gotten from the film suggested that Ezra Miller’s costume would be more armor based and rigid, however, this is the first image that shows him in an almost neoprene dive suit, likely offering more flexibility than seen before. This suit is also similar to Zachary Levi’s Shazam! costume. As far as we know the Flash won’t face the likes of Steppenwolf or Darkseid so this streamlined look is a good choice for this film.
This suit may not be a perfect combination but it definitely mixes two iconic Flash looks from the DC comics. Injustice 2 Flash and Wally West’s New Flash 52. The energy veins throughout the body is very much taken from Flash 52 and the headpiece along with the overall silhouette of the suit screams Injustice 2. The good thing about this suit is it looks different enough to be seen as something new but fans can see the inspiration behind it which honors the comics.
Andres Muschietti (IT) will helm The Flash, and Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, Batgirl) will pen the story. Additionally, it will feature the Bruce Wayne/Batman characters played by Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, as well as Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdu as Nora Allen, Ian Loh as a young Barry Allen, and Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Rudy Mancuso in unspecified roles.
The Flash is slated for a theatrical release on June 23, 2023.
