MCU movies have always been hype-worthy and exciting due to incredible world building and extravagance they boost. Many other studios are trying to recapture the magic of MCU and one of them is Sony. Sony’s Rebooted Spiderverse began with Venom (2018). Since then we have seen Venom 2 and Morbius, both of which did not receive much love. Now Sony has announced way too much about Spiderverse in the past week and to save you guys the pain, here’s an article which will let you know all about it in one go.
Kraven The Hunter Release Date and Cast
Starting in the order of releases, Kraven the Hunter is all set to release on January 13, 2023, and it has been confirmed that there will be no Spider-man in this film as well. It is being directed by J. C. Chandor and will feature Aaron Taylor Johnson as Kraven, Christopher Abbott as the main villain, with Alessandro Nivola, Russell Crowe, Fred Hechinger, Ariana DeBose, and Levi Miller in undisclosed roles. The film will showcase the origin story of this major Spider-man antagonist and lead the way to Sony’s potential Sinister Six movie. Nothing particularly new has been revealed about this film recently, si let’s move on to next films.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Spider-Verse 2)
Across the Spider-Verse entered production in 2020 and its first trailer debuted in December 2021. The trailer gave fans a look into how Miles would reunite with Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy and explore the Multiverse further. Unfortunately, the film has been delayed from October 7 of this year to June 2, 2023 and you can read all about it here. It was just revealed that Across the Spider-Verse is set in 6 different universes and will feature over 40 characters including Oscar Isaac’s Spider-Man 2099.
Madame Web Release Date, Cast and Plot
Even though, Spider-Mаn: Across the Spider-Verse releаse dаte has been postponed, Sony announced that Mаdаme Web will be releаsed on July 7, 2023. This is just one month after Across the Spiderverse, so there is a slight possibility that it might get delayed. Dаkotа Johnson wаs cаst аs the aforementioned hero and along with her, Sydney Sweeney was also casted in an undisclosed role. Fans are speculating her role to be of Spider-Gwen or Black Cat. As for the plot, nothing is known as of now and recently Sony’s team revealed that even they don’t know which direction the movie might end up going. It will most probably be a part of the Morbius/Venom universe.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse / Spider-Verse 3 Release Date
While earlier Spider-Verse 2 and 3 were called Across the Spider-Verse Part 1 and Part 2, now it isn’t so. Sony removed the Part 1 from Across the Spider-verse title last week and today, it announced that the third film will be titled Spider-Man: Beyond the Spiderverse. Owing to the delays in Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has also been moved from 2023 release to March 29, 2024. It will be a direct sequel to Spider-Verse 2 and will continue Miles’ multiversal adventures.
Venom 3 Release Date and Confirmation
During Sony’s CinemaCon panel, Sony officially confirmed that Venom 3 was under development. As of now, nothing is known about the director, writers or the cast, but we are pretty sure Tom Hardy will return for Venom 3. As for its release date, Sony’s 2023 is packed with Kraven The Hunter, Across the Spiderverse, and Madame Web. So, we will not see Venom 3 at least till 2024 and that too after Beyond the Spider-Verse is released.
