Murder Mystery 2

Murder Mystery is exactly what it sounds like- a murder mystery film. The film was released in 2019 and starred Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. This was the film’s biggest achievement. The film was only talked because of the fantastic cast it had managed to get. If you’ve been here before then I love whodunnits done right, example: Knives Out. I was on a mission to watch all the newly released murder mysteries and I came across this film which was literally called it, how could I go wrong with this one right? Well, it turns out you can. The film had nothing to offer except for its charismatic stars which made it watchable. There was no mystery, no intrigue, nothing thrilling about it. The reveal of the killer was also not shocking, it was too out of the blue and didn’t feel satisfying.

The film was universally criticized but it turns out the film brought great numbers for Netflix simply because it had Aniston and Sandler. Their fanbase was enough for the film to be considered successful. This resulted in Netflix greenlighting a sequel, I don’t know why but it is Netflix so what can you do? Well, today we have the trailer for the follow-up movie and I’m not going to lie despite my reservations about the first film, this new one does look extremely interesting.

Does The New Murder Mystery 2 Trailer Reveal Too Much?

The trailer for the sequel opens up with a nice little quiet cafe in Paris getting demolished by a truck which has Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. After this bombastic opening, we see multiple clips that tease the upcoming thrills, comedy and mayhem that we’re going to witness in the film. The sequel also sees the couple going on another extravagant, lavish getaway just like the first film and just like the first film that lavish vacation soon becomes murderous. The sequel looks gorgeous, the sets, the costumes and everything else looks top notch.

I love how beautiful everyone looks in the Indian outfits. That being said, unlike the first film, this is more about a kidnapping than a murder. In the first film, the murder takes place on a yacht and the couple investigates further, however, it is not the same here. The Maharaja is kidnapped and someone else is murdered. This looks more like an espionage comedy-thriller than a murder mystery. Whatever it is I must say the trailer is explosive enough to get me mildly excited about the sequel. I will watch this one simply because it looks interesting.
