Every DC Movie and TV Show Announced in New Slate!

Ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran were appointed the new DC Heads, everyone was looking forward to what they’re going to do pull out DC from the mess that they’ve created around themselves after the Snyderverse controversy. In all honesty, after appointment the duo did cause more of mess but as they say it has to get worse before it gets better. Their contribution at DC was for now limited to the plan they lay out for the studio. Bunch of solo movies and TV shows which ultimately connects to a bigger crossover event. Gunn has been hyping his slate and teasing us about it for quite some time. We already knew that there is a Superman movie around the corner, not starring Henry Cavill. Regardless, we didn’t know anything else about this new slate but now that it is announced let’s what all Gunn-Safran have planned.

DC: Everything James Gunn and Peter Safran Revealed Yesterday!

New Slate Of DC Movies Will Come Out This Week!

Yesterday James Gunn and Peter Safran announced first half of their Chapter One: Gods & Monsters. Chapter is basically the DC version of Phase. Chapter one will be beginning in 2025. There are a total of 10 movies and TV shows revealed that will be connected to each other. The goal is to have at least 2 movies and 2 TV shows released per year. Here are all the movies that were announced:

  1. Superman: Legacy is the first film in the DCU which will written by James Gunn and Peter Safran is hopeful that the filmmaker will also direct it. The movie is slated to come out on July 25 2025. It is not an origin story even though the film is set in Superman’s early years when he is trying to balance his superhero and normal life.
  2. The Authority: James Gunn is currently outlining the film and it will basically focus on this group of anti-heroes who have good intentions but have to go to extremes because of broken the world is. This band of DC heroes will be brought into the main universe in the form of a feature film.
  3. The Brave and the Bold: This is a new take on Batman’s story as this is his and Robin’s story. A new star is set to play the Dark Knight, so Pattinson or Affleck won’t be starring in the film. The film will focus on Batman who is taught to be an assassin learns that Damian Wayne is his son and now he has to raise him under his wing. Other members of the Bat family are set to appear in the film as well but as far as who will play them? That remains a mystery. The storyline is based on Grant Morrison’s Batman run.
  4. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow means that for the first time Superman and Supergirl will be appearing together in a cinematic universe. The Girl of Steel movie will be based on Tom King’s recent run which focused on how Superman grew with loving parents on Earth while Supergirl stayed on the piece of Krypton that drifted off seeing each of her loved ones die slow painful deaths.
  5. Swamp Thing: There will be movie that will explore the dark origins of the Swamp Thing.

Here is the list of all the TV shows that were announced:

  1. Creature Commandos: This is the only animated show part of the slate and Gunn has already written seven episodes for it. The show is to be centered around Rick Flagg Sr. (who is set to appear elsewhere in live-action, portrayed by his voice actor), Nina Mazursky, Doctor Phosphorus, Eric Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein (who is the protagonist), G.I. Robot, and Weasel.
  2. Waller: The previously rumored Amanda Waller series is moving ahead at DC with Viola Davis returning as Amanda Waller in the new show. The events of the series will take place between Peacemaker Season one and Season two. This is because Gunn doesn’t have time for Peacemaker right now and understandably so. Doom Patrol executive producer Jeremy Carver and Watchmen scribe Christal Henry are heading up the series.
  3. Lanterns: It is unclear as of now is this the same Greg Berlanti’s Green Lantern show. Regardless, this series is set to focus on Hal Jordan and John Stewart. The show is supposed to be a detective mystery with the Green Lanterns acting as super police on the Earth precinct. Lanterns will lead into an overall story about an ancient horror while weaving between movies and DC TV shows.
  4. Paradise Lost: This is a Wonder Woman prequel which is set before Princess Diana’s time. A Game of Thrones style show where we see the origin of Themyscira and how a political game is played with the kingdom. It will explore what does a society of women do in order gain power.
  5. Booster Gold: This show will focus on a future tech superhero who has imposter syndrome. We don’t know a lot about this show and DC is also trying to find an actor to play the titular character for the role.

Apart from this the only major announcement came in the form of Matt Reeves’ Batman trilogy. Gunn and Safran confirmed that Reeves’ Batman will be a part of the Elseworlds narrative (Parallel universe), along with all the TV shows that Reeves’ universe will get, Gunn also confirmed that Robert Pattinson’s Batman will have a trilogy.

DCU’s next movie: Shazam! Fury of the Gods is slated to release in theatres on 17th March 2023.
