Fantastic Four is one of Marvel’s most anticipated and hyped projects in the upcoming years. The inclusion of Marvel’s first family is a very important step in the narrative that they’re trying to build. We’ve been hearing so much about Fantastic Four, I mean think we have heard too much at this point. Every week we used to get new casting rumors, with Hollywood’s biggest stars pining for the role. However, we never got any confirmation on the fate of any or why they weren’t cast yet. We don’t know who Marvel is casting, the last we heard the studio is hunting Adam Driver for the role of Mr. Fantastic. After which we have had no updates on the matter. Thankfully, today we don’t have any crazy rumors. However, we know now what Marvel is looking for in their version of Sue Storm or Mrs. Fantastic.
Fantastic Four: Dakota Johnson Is Sue Storm?
Another day, another podcast leaking news about the media industry. Speaking on The Hot Mic podcast, reputed industry insider Jeff Sneider revealed that Marvel wants some one like Madame Web star Dakota Johnson for the role of Sue Storm. It is important to note that they want to someone like her, not her as she is already part of Sony’s Venomverse. Sneider also revealed that popular fan casting of Saoirse Ronan as Sue Storm has been turned down by Marvel as she is too young for them.
Sneider said, “… As far as Fantastic Four goes, I mean… When we were talking about her age… Sue Storm’s age… and said they’re gonna start building around Sue Storm. And then I put out Saoirse [Ronan], and someone had come forward, and said Saoirse seems a little too young… So we’re looking at that 30-35 age range and, from what I understand, Dakota Johnson is the prototype.” Fantastic Four is reportedly planning to start shooting early 2024, so the casting process should be underway right now and we should get the confirmed cast very soon.
Sneider did clear that his comments should not be misinterpreted as Marvel looking for Dakota Johnson herself as the studio is simply using her as a template. Sneider clarified, “But it’s not, obviously, going to be Dakota Johnson, because she is Madame Web… which, I believe, is undergoing reshoots right now too. So, it’s not going to be Dakota Johnson. Dakota Johnson is 32, I think, so does that mean that they’re looking at a white woman? Not necessarily. But you know, I think in an ideal world… they would like someone like Dakota Johnson.”
The Fantastic Four reboot is slated to release in theatres on 14th February 2025.
