Akshay Kumar is known as the Khiladi of Bollywood. The veteran Hindi actor had done more than 100 films. He is one of the A-list actors and a bankable star who has been part of so many successful box office ventures. However, post pandemic the landscape of the industry has changed. No one for sure knows which films are going to work and which aren’t. One actor who has been the brunt of the list is Akshay Kumar as none of his films have made any impact on the Indian audiences as all his films have been financial disasters. Be it Bachchan Pandey, Ram Setu, Raksha Bandhan, Samrat Prithviraj and Cuttputlli. The last successful film that the actor delivered was the Rohit Shetty directorial Sooryavanshi that came out in 2021. That film too came after the pandemic but the actor is not able to follow after that.
One of the reasons for the films’ failure was because they were remakes and given the audience now has access to films of different languages. The saturation of remakes that are in Bollywood right now of average South Indian films is a fatigue for the audience as well. The newest film of the actor called Selfiee stars Emran Hashmi which is a remake of a Tamil film of the same name. The film is made on a budget of 100-130 crores and has only earned 17 crores making it another financial nightmare for the actor. This just shows how a reputed actor can also get into trouble at any stage of his career. The unreliability of the actor when it comes to box office results has resulted into the actor not able to find distributors for his next venture.
Why is Akshay Kumar Not Finding Distributors?
Despite giving back to back flops Akshay Kumar still has a long list films coming like Soorarai Pottru remake, Oh My God 2, Capsule Gill, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Hera Pheri 3. This is mainly because of the stature of the actor and all these film contracts were signed before these films tanked. Now according to a source, Oh my God 2 which is his next release has no takers for theatrical run or OTT platforms. There no distributors interested to take Akshay Kumar’s films as they’ve performed so poorly recently.
The source is of course KRK, Kamaal R. Khan who is not a reliable source especially because how he is always after Bollywood actors spreading negativity about them but there might be some truth in this news, if not then only take it for entertainment purposes. Here is the tweet:
Film #Selfiee’s disaster result has affected Akshay Kumar’s career badly. Now no distributor and OTT company is ready to buy his next film #OMG2 Akki’s one more remake of south film #SooraraiPottru is going to convert into 4 episode Web series instead to release in the theatre.
