As Marvel has stepped into the TV game, they have not let anything hold them back. They’re producing new series back to back sometimes with no heed to quality. Regardless, many new characters have already been introduced through these series out of which I only like Loki, all other Marvel shows are mediocre at best and some are out right trash. As I say that, I should address that the best Marvel TV content is not their shows rather their Specials- one came out on Halloween (Werewolf by Night) and the other on Christmas (Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special). Despite the success the specials have had, we don’t know whether Marvel is producing anymore of them. At least we have not been informed. However, today’s update hints that we might get a new special very soon.
Marvel: A New Special Surrounding Mephisto Is In Development!
Above the Line’s Jeff Sneider revealed on the Hot Mic Podcast that a Marvel Studios’ Special Presentation is currently in production. The project is said to be surrounded around Mephisto. The special is being shot on the set of Agatha: Coven of Chaos with Sacha Baron Cohen portraying the titular villain. Cohen was supposed to debut in Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart where he will portray Marvel’s extra-dimensional demon- the infamous Mephisto. He was recently directly referenced in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
Along with Ironheart, Mephisto was also set to appear in Agatha: Coven of Chaos or at least there were rumors pointing toward a return in Agatha. However, with the potential delays across the MCU’s Phase 5 slate, it is unknown when fans can expect to see The Dictator actor’s take on the MCU villain.
Marvel’s TV Specials- Werewolf by Night and Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special are currently available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
