Marvel Studios: Script Strategy Changed After Disappointing Phase 4

Marvel Studios isn’t what it was before the pandemic anymore. The supremacy that Marvel had was something that one can only dream of. The first three Phases of Marvel which covered the Infinity Saga were simply brilliant. It had its duds along the way but overall each film contributed to the ultimate conclusion envisioned by Kevin Feigi. However, beginning with Phase 4 something changed. The focus switched from quality to quantity. There was a lot of Marvel content that came out but nothing was worth watching. The only two decent films were Spider-Man: No Way Home and Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. When it comes to the TV side, only the Loki series stood out. The fundamental problem with the content was the weak and outdated scripts that Marvel mass produced. However, it looks like the studio has recognized the error given the backflash for Phase 4 and is determined to fix it.

Marvel Studios Is Looking To Produce Better Scripts!

In the latest episode of the The Hot Mic Podcast, industry insider Jeff Sneider discussed the new strategy that Marvel has adopted behind the scenes when it comes to the process of developing scripts.

Sneider revealed, “If you have been paying attention in the last few weeks or months you would notice that Marvel has been spending a lot more money on writers. Just today, we saw the news that Nic Pizzolatto, they brought in as the new writer on ‘Blade.’ Just like Josh Friedman, the expensive ‘Sarah Connor Chronicles’ writer, he’s a big name writer in this town. They got him for ‘Fantastic Four.’ Lee Sung Jin, the ‘Beef’ creator, they just hired [for ‘Thunderbolts’].”

He further added, “So pay attention guys, they are not going out to the newbie writers anymore. They are going out to some heavy hitters for writers, that’s the Marvel secret that no one has talked about yet. They are now paying for writers.”

This new update makes sense as it is in line with Marvel’s new casting approach. They’re looking out for big names, established actors and actresses, something that they avoided in the first three phases. However, I believe they’re now looking for experience. Reportedly, this trend is not limited to writers and actors but also directors as Kevin Feigi is willing to have more known talent behind the camera, even if this means investing heavily in the people they hire.
