Spider-Man: No Way Home is the third Tom Holland Spider-Man film. The film is directed by Jon Watts who has also helmed the first two films. Along with Holland the cast includes Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange and Benedict Wong as Wong. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield also cameoed in the film from their respective Spider-Man franchises. The film also has all the Spider-Man villains from the Raimi trilogy and the Amazing Spider-Man trilogy, oops duology. Even if the film had many narrative problems and many elements were simply there for fan service, the film was one of the best theatre experiences of my life. The film was the highest grossing film of 2021 and Phase 4 with $1.9 Billion worldwide.
With the last two films of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man crossing a billion, there is no chance that we’re not getting another one. However, what is surprising is that since 2021 release all we’ve gotten are rumors but nothing concrete about Spider-Man 4. Although, now thanks to the WGA strike we’ve gotten a hopeful update regarding the upcoming fourthquel.
Spider-Man 4 Is In Active Development!
Yesterday Sony’s newest Spider-Man film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse premiered. The film got glowing reviews from critics and is highly anticipated. At the premiere, Variety asked producer Amy Pascal about Spider-Man 4 starring Tom Holland and Zendaya and she didn’t hesitate to give an honest answer, “Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are. We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”
When asked about the future of Holland’s web-slinger, Sony Pictures head Tom Rothman simply laughed and said, “If I told you, I’d have to kill you.” An earlier rumor suggested that the film would have a 12th July 2024 release. However, this update proves that the rumored release date is bogus as it is highly unrealistic for the film to complete till that time.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
