Disney is looking to get back in the animated business with Elemental helmed by The Good Dinosaur director Peter Sohn. The Pixar film focuses on Ember, a fiery character and Wade, a chilled water character and how they discover their similarities despite their differences. Leah Lewis plays Ember, while Mamoudou Athie plays Wade. Elemental was supposed to be Disney’s comeback in the animated game as post the pandemic Dreamworks’ films have been kicking their butts. However, Elemental crashed with the critics as it became Disney’s lowest rated original movie on Rotten Tomatoes ever (57%). However, once the film opened up in theatres, the audience showed warmth to it as the element-based romantic comedy earned $397.1 million worldwide, $129 million of which came from the domestic market.
Its Rotten Tomatoes score also went up to 76%. The Peter Sohn directorial out-ranked many big-budget summer blockbusters like The Flash. Elemental caught many off guard, becoming one of the summer’s biggest box office surprises and carrying momentum at the ticket window that Disney’s recent animated films just haven’t. If you’re wondering when the movie will be available online, then you’re in luck.
