Evil Dead Over Half a Million Copies Sold in 5 Days

Evil Dead: The Game is a survival horror video game based on the Evil Dead franchise. The game was developed and published by Saber Interactive and features co-operative gameplay as well as player versus player combat. It was released on 13 May 2022 for  PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows. The game has received positive reviews and feature a rating of 8/10 and 4/5 on IGN and GamesRadar respectively. But not everyone agrees to it as some outlets like GameSpot (6/10) have given it average scores. Yet the game has managed to capture the attention of gamers worldwide and has done pretty good for itself.

Half A Million Copies Sold Already

Evil Dead: The Game was originally scheduled for a 2021 release, but then it was first delayed to February 2022 and then again to May. At the time Saber said, “This delay gives our team the time they need to get things just right, so your boomstick will be polished, fully loaded, and ready to blast Deadites on that Friday the 13th of May.” Well, it seems like a really good move now as Evil Dead has been better-received than Saber Interactive’s previous licensed co-op zombie shooter, World War Z.

As mentioned in the full year report of the Embracer Group, which owns developer Saber Interactive, and @EmbracerInvestor on Twitter, Evil Dead sold over 500,000 copies. This is the figure just after 5 days of its release and is a huge opening figure for any game to call it a hit. Check out the tweet below:

Here’s the main objective of the game if you are unaware, while four players, co-operate to achieve their objectives, a fifth player hunts them as a demon. The more spooked the survivors are, the more susceptible they are to the demon’s attacks, which include possessing one of them to attack the rest. Any of the above mentioned roles can also be filled by AI.
