The Flash

The Flash is being labelled as the worst flop in the history of superhero movies. The Andy Muschietti directorial has minted $262 million at the worldwide box office. This figure is nothing in comparison to the $200 million production budget and $150 million marketing budget. Also, don’t forget half of the theatrical run goes to the exhibitors (theatre owners). Which means The Flash has basically earned $131 million on a budget of $350 million. That is bad. Very bad. Which is why Warner Bros. is desperately trying to reduce their losses by making the movie available for digital purchase so early (July 18th), only a month after its theatrical debut. This sparked curiosity in fans about the streaming release date of the film. After a long wait, Warner Bros. has finally announced when can fans enjoy The Flash on Max (formerly HBO Max).

The Flash: Warner Bros. Finally Announces Streaming Release Date!

Max’s official X (previously known as Twitter) page announced the streaming debut for The Flash, which will come on Friday, August 25 – only 70 days after the film’s June 16 theatrical premiere date. This comes as a surprise because Warner Bros. itself offered paradoxical information on the superhero movie’s streaming release. Casey Bloys, Chairman & CEO of HBO & HBO Max Content, shared at a Max event in April that The Flash wouldn’t hit the streaming service until Fall 2023.

Andres Muschietti (IT) will helm The Flash, and Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, Batgirl) will pen the story. Additionally, it will feature the Bruce Wayne/Batman characters played by Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, as well as Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdu as Nora Allen, Ian Loh as a young Barry Allen, and Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Rudy Mancuso in unspecified roles.
