God of War Ragnarok DLC - The Progress, Story, Release Date for the Expansion Angraboda Serpent Fenrir

After being put down by the developers a few months ago, it seems like God of War: Ragnarok DLC is happening after all. In the snap of our fingers, God of War: Ragnarok touched all our lives and left a huge hole in our hearts “which grows the more you take away”. But now that the short lived Norse saga has been concluded, fans have been left asking what is next for the manliest God who ever walked Greece and Midgard. That is exactly what this article is about. Obviously, a few spoilers for GOW: Ragnarok follow below, so if you haven’t played it yet, why haven’t you?

God of War: Ragnarok DLC Expansion Coming Soon, Insider Suggests

God of War has been the flagship and most profitable IP of Sony PlayStation Studios since decades and they surely won’t let their tattooed killing machine go. So, even though Kratos has earned a well deserved rest and even retirement, that won’t be happening anytime soon. As you may know, God of War: Ragnarok ended with Atreus and Kratos parting ways and though Sony clearly stated it was the end of Kratos’ adventure in Norse Pantheon, it doesn’t mean it is the end of God of War. In fact, it also doesn’t mean it is the end of the Norse Saga as a lot of questions still need to be answered.

First let us talk about this new update which comes from noted gaming news leaker The Snitch, who suggests that Ragnarok might get new content soon. In a brief video clip shared on the Resetera forums, he claimed that Santa Monica Studios is working on a new DLC project. Moreover, he claimed that the project is already 60% through development. He isn’t sure whether this will be a supplementary DLC or a fully standalone expansion, and also suggested that it is unlikely to be released anytime this year. As for the believability of this info, among the gaming community, The Snitch is pretty much respected for delivering reliable information. He claims that his source is the same person who leaked Rise of Ronin before it was officially unveiled by Team Ninja last September. Hence, many gamers have take his word and are now speculating what the DLC might be about, Here’s what we believe.

While Kratos’ part in the main story seems to be over, Atreus still has a lot to do. Taking Atreus as the main character will give the creators of the game a huge opportunity to present a fresh perspective and story for the expansion. The entire Atreus and the giants arc needs a bit of closure and considering how they let us play as Atreus, an Atreus based seems like a great idea. Aside from Atreus’ mission to find more giants, the way Sindri’s story ended left a huge and painful hole in our hearts, so the DLC might touch upon that as well and give us some closure. Another thing which needs to be explored is the return of Tyr and the rebuilding of Asgard.

You might remember, a few months ago, Tyr’s voice actor While discussing Tyr’s role in Ragnarok, Ben Prendergast stated that Tyr wasn’t done yet. He said, “all I’ll say is this – it isn’t the last you’ve seen of Tyr.” Prendergast went on to say that he “knows a little, but doesn’t know much,” regarding the future of the God of War series at large. So, in case there is a Atreus DLC, you can be damn well sure we’ll see Tyr in that considering how he helped the giants and all. There have also been a few job listings posted by Santa Monica and its associate studios regarding the future of God of War series. From all this, we can derive that Snitch’s comments may not be far from truth and we might actually be getting an expansion for GOW: Ragnarok in 2024.

God of War: Ragnarok is available to play on Play Station 5 and Play Station 4.
