Hulu is now streaming one of the best-reviewed films of 2023, How to Blow Up a Pipeline. Directed by Daniel Goldhaber, this crime-thriller is based on the book by Swedish author Andreas Malm. As the title hints, this book argued in favor of pro-climate disrupts. Right after its world premiere, the film was snatched up for distribution by Neon. The New York Times said, “It has a degree of suspense and efficiency that are becoming all too rare in the mainstream.” Vanity Fair referred to it as a “nervy eco-thriller.”

Neon explains How to Blow Up a Pipeline as: “A crew of young environmental activists execute a daring mission to sabotage an oil pipeline in this taut and timely thriller that is part high-stakes heist, part radical exploration of the climate crisis.” How to Blow Up a Pipeline is set in West Texas. It follows eight young individuals who plan to blow up an oil pipeline in two places. It addresses themes such as the climate crisis, terrorism, and the use of property damage as activist strategies. How to Blow Up a Pipeline deals with moral and psychological challenges, and the intricacy of antiheroes.

The film premiered on September 10, 2022, at Toronto International Film Festival. It was released on April 7, 2023 in the United States. The cast of the film includes Ariela Barer, Kristine Froseth, Lukas Gage, Forrest Goodluck, Sasha Lane, and more. Daniel Goldhaber collaborated with film’s actor Ariela Barer and one of his collaborators Jordan Sjol for the screenplay.
