What is the number one English speaking show watched on Netflix? Stranger Things? Wrong. This answer would’ve been right a few months ago. But since June, Wednesday has taken the crown from the teen horror show to emerge as the most watched Netflix show by hours. The top 10 most watched shows on Netflix list acts as evidence of Stranger Things losing its #1 crown to a new King in the market- Wednesday. What is surprising is Stranger Things wasn’t even close to the figures of Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday. The horror comedy show amassed a total of 252.1 million views while Stranger Things 4 came in at second place with a distant 140.7 million views.

In terms of most watched Netflix show by hours, Stranger Things (1.83 billion hours)  still holds the crown but Wednesday is not far away at 1.71 billion hours. Considering the astronomical success of the show, a season two was inevitable. The sequel season was supposed to answer so many unanswered questions that season one left hanging. Many character relationships were suppose to grow like Wednesday and Xavier Thorpe. However, that’s not happening as Netflix is writing Percy Hynes White’s character out of the show.

No Xavier Thorpe In Wednesday Season 2!

A new rumor is flying in the market, According to trusted scooper MyTimeToShineHello on X (previously known as Twitter), Percy Hynes White will won’t return for Wednesday Season 2, as his character Xavier Thorpe. Netflix is set to write the character out of the series. While the scooper did not specify why Percy Hynes White is being dropped from the sequel season, the rumor was confirmed via “a source close to [the actor’s] family” by the Daily Mail.

The news comes roughly nine months after the actor was accused of assaulting a woman at a party in Toronto. Percy Hynes White has strongly denied the allegations and Netflix has not officially confirmed or denied Hynes White’s exit from Wednesday at this time. Check out the post below:

The character’s exit could also have nothing to do with the actor’s personal life and be a result of Jenna Ortega’s recent comments on the second season of the show. Ortega took part in Variety’s Actors on Actors series in June 2023. The actress sat down with Elle Fanning to discuss her current and upcoming projects. Ofcourse the conversation led to Wednesday Season 2 and Ortega revealed that, “[season two would], lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more. Because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously.”

She also added that the upcoming season will not feature a “romantic love interest for Wednesday, which is really great.” Percy Hynes White’s Xavier Thorpe and Hunter Doohan’s Tyler Galpin, served as the primary love interests of Wednesday Addams in Season 1. So, the exit of Xavier Thorpe may be due to the nonnecessity of a love interest which his character potentially was.

Jenna Ortega leads the cast with amazing support from Christina Ricci, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie, Emma Myers, Isaac Ordonez, Hunter Doohan, Fred Armisen, Georgie Farmer and Percy Hynes White. All eight episodes of Wednesday are currently available for streaming on Netflix. Season Two doesn’t have a release date yet.
