What shall I say about DC? The studio is more clueless than a child with a credit card. After the massive box office failure of The Flash, I think the only hope fans have is from James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy which will release next week. However, there are two more DC releases this year. Two? Surprised? You thought only Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is left from DC’s 2023 slate. Well, there is another – Blue Beetle. I won’t blame you if you didn’t know about this film. Warner Bros. didn’t push too much as well, to save marketing money. The film is made only on a budget of $120 million, however, Blue Beetle has only managed to collect $121 million in 4 weeks of theatrical run. Since, the film is not doing well at the box office, Warner Bros. is looking for different ways to make their money back.
Blue Beetle: Physical Media Release Date Is Here!
A new report from Collider reveals that Blue Beetle will be released on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on Oct. 31, 2023. Since, streaming release dates are often around the Blu-ray release dates. So, we can expect Blue Beetle to start streaming on Max around October end or early November. Just a few weeks back, we got an update that Blue Beetle was recently listed by YouTube movies as available for pre-order, including a specific release date of Tuesday, September 26.
This means that the fans can enjoy the DC flick at home via the platform 39 days after it was officially released in theaters worldwide on August 18. A separate report mentioned that Blue Beetle would be available for purchase digitally and on VOD platforms on Tuesday, September 19. It is likely that this was the original date and the release was pushed back by a week.
If you think 39 days is too quick for a film to be available online then wait as you check the theatre to digital window of other DC movies that have released this year. Shazam! Fury of the Gods was made available for digital purchase just 21 days after its theatrical debut, and The Flash hit VOD platforms 32 days after it had premiered on the big screen. This is part of Warner Bros. aggressive theatre to digital strategy and by the looks of it they don’t intend to change it.
