Following Jenna Ortega’s portrayal of Tara Carpenter in the last two instalments of Scream, the actor may return for a 7th installment. After playing successful supporting roles in Jane the Virgin and You, Ortega became a hit with Tim Burton’s Netflix series Wednesday. According to The Wrap, Ortega is committed to Scream 7, despite her tight schedule. Many fans wonder if the actor’s new level of fame would rule her out of Scream 7. The Wrap reported Warner Bros. is perhaps in a rush to finish Beetlejuice 2 as soon as the strike ends because of Jenna Ortega’s return to both Wednesday Season 2 and Scream 7.

Jenna Ortega’s Busy Schedule Before Scream 7

Jenna Ortega needs to finish filming both Beetlejuice 2 and Wednesday Season 2 before she can begin working on Scream 7. This could create conflicting timelines and schedules for the three studios. However, the good news is according to Tim Burton, the Beetlejuice 2 is 99% done and hit theatres on September 6, 2024. But, Wednesday Season 2 has yet to start filming.

So far, Scream 7 has director Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day) attached to this project. No writer has signed on yet.  Scream 7‘s story will likely remain in New York City for the next chapter. It can dive into something previously unseen in the franchise. The cast members hasn’t been announced yet. However, Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown are expected to return from previous seasons.

Wednesday Season 1 was filmed for seven months. So, Ortega’s schedule may not be free until mid-2024. If  the sequel wants to cast the actor, it will have to wait. Scream 7 will most likely come out sometime in 2025.

Scream 6 is now streaming on Paramount+.
