Outlander is this period epic TV show on Starz network that takes place after the Second World War, Claire Beauchamp Randall enjoys a second honeymoon in Scotland with her husband. However, she is transported to a mysterious world where she meets warrior Jamie Fraser. The show started its run way back in 2014 and and has continued its run amazing run for seven seasons. The show has maintained a rating of 8.4/10 on IMDb over the years. As Starz network is not available everywhere, many viewers enjoy the show on Netflix in countries like India. After season 7, many fans were wondering whether there will be a season 8 or not but the good news is that Outlander will most definitely return for a season 8 and here’s everything we know about it.
When Is Outlander Season 8 Releasing?
A new report from Deadline revealed that Outlander was renewed by Starz for an eighth season back in January 2023, the eighth season will also be the final season for the series. In a recent interview with Radio Times, the show’s star Caitriona Balfe revealed that the show’s production was delayed due to the writer’s strike but before the halt they had a starting date. She said, “Well, we had a date. And now with the writers’ strike, who knows? So we have to just wait and see.”
Earlier this year in May, Balfe had revealed to Express that filming for season 8 would begin soon. She said, “We’re about to start shooting, in a few months, our eighth season but our seventh season is starting to air on June 16th on Lionsgate+.” Like every other show there is a fair chance that the show will gear up for production soon. Season 7 started in May 2022 and finished in February 2023 (confirmed on Instagram by star Sam Heughan), totaling 220 days of shooting before the season debuted on June 16, 2023.
So, assuming that season 8 can start filming in early 2024, there is a high chance that the entire year will be reserved for that. So, fans cannot expect Outlander season 8 until at least late 2025, but there’s a better chance that the show doesn’t return until Winter or Spring 2025. No new addition to the cast has been confirmed, but one can easily assume that the core cast of the series will return.
