The pandemic was a difficult time for all of us. None of us had ever seen something like this. So, in a weird time where the entire world came to a halt, we resorted to movies and TV shows to keep us entertained. I did the same thing. I binge watched many TV shows and movies until I came across a show called Brooklyn Nine-Nine. A friend of mine recommended it to me and I have to admit I was skeptical of watching a cop sitcom. However, it was one of the best decisions of my life. The show was full of lovely characters, amazing storylines and mature humor. Of course I loved all the characters from the show but Captain Raymond Holt was my favorite. The calm, serious and stoic demeanor coupled with Andre Braugher’s unintentional humor was exactly what I needed everyday.
Naturally, I was heartbroken when I heard the news of his passing. Braugher did do Nine-Nine but his career began way back in 1989’s Glory. He was part of many acclaimed movies and TV shows. Dramatic, serious roles were Braugher’s forte, thanks to his deep voice that gave him his gravitas. The world lost a true artist on December 11th. Despite the stature of Braugher, we were never told his cause of death which spiked a lot of controversies. Thankfully, all of them have been put to rest now that the real reason has been revealed.
Andre Braugher’s Cause of Death Finally Revealed!
Andre Braugher passed away on December 11th, 2023 at the age of 61, as told to us by his longtime publicist Jennifer Allen. At the time, Allen told sources that Braugher’s death was followed by a brief illness that the actor suffered from. However, she didn’t provide any details making fans suspicious. No one could find out the real cause of Braugher’s death. Naturally, some people also used this for their conspiracy theories and political agendas. A section of the internet claimed that Braugher’s death was caused by the Covid-19 vaccine.
Days after such baseless rumors were spirally out, Jennifer Allen finally revealed the real reason behind Andre Braugher’s death to The New York Times. The outlet reports that the brief illness that the actor suffered for months before his demise as mentioned by Allen was lung cancer. The illness was diagnosed just a few months before. It’s not uncommon for celebrities to keep major health issues private, and while Braugher was a private person, he previously told the New York Times in 2014 that he “stopped drinking alcohol and smoking years ago.”
I’m happy that now that the real reason is out, all the reports and rumors would stop. I can’t believe we can use someone’s death to push our own agenda into the world. All we should do is grieve and celebrate the artist’s remarkable life journey. Regardless, the dust has settled, rest in peace Andre Braugher…
