Dragon Ball Super Chapter 101 Black Frieza Arc To Begin All We Know So Far

People often argue that Dragon Ball‘s time is over but the franchise almost repeatedly proves them wrong. In 2022, DBS: Super Hero turned out to be one of the highest grossing anime films of all time in US as well as one of the highest rated anime films with an RT score of 93%. Since then however, the manga has been adapting the film giving fans no new content as they await the anime return since 2017. But recently, with the announcement of Dragon Ball Daima, it once again became a talking point among fans. Further, the Super Hero Arc’s final chapter just debut last month, which means that we’ll now move on to the next original arc of Dragon Ball Super! Here’s all we know about it.

Dragon Ball Super Chapter 101: Black Frieza Arc Can Redeem the Franchise

While many fans called Granolah/Gas Arc overextended, everyone was highly surprised and taken aback by the ending. No one expected Frieza to show up like that and beat the crap out of Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta at the same time. His new Black form made him the most powerful fighter in the galaxy, potentially as strong as Lord Beerus himself. So, everyone knows that Black Frieza is out there and will return someday. Granted, Frieza has been a bit overused by DBS but as long as they still have good stories to tell, it is fine. After all, Frieza has played a major part in how our heroes turned out to be and continues to have a great impact on the Dragon Ball saga, something which we all felt during Universe Survival Saga.

Now that Beast Gohan is here and the Super Hero Arc is all wrapped up, we expect the next major arc to begin right away with Chapter 101. While some fans believe we might have a few filler chapters, technically last 11 chapters have been nothing but filler themselves. So, it would be best for the franchise if they move on to the main event aka The Black Frieza Arc. It would also make a lot of sense for 2024 opening chapter to be bombastic as 2023 has been pretty dead for Dragon Ball. Leakers have already hyped 2024 as the year of Dragon Ball and we sincerely hope that turns out to be the case. So, realistically speaking, Black Frieza arc should begin with Chapter 101.

However, we recently received a particularly worrying update from the leakers. It was speculated that Dragon Ball Super Chapter 101 might contain some more slice of life filler content involving Goten and Trunks. This will apparently serve as an epilogue to Super Hero arc and will showcase how these events affected Dr Hedo, Trunks, Goten, Mia, and Gamma 1. Even if this is true, that is not all this chapter will feature as it will surely include prologue or hints to the next arc of the series. So, now let us move on to what The Black Frieza Arc will be about.

As of now, Goku, Vegeta, and Broly are training to be stronger on Beerus’ planet while Piccolo and Gohan have obtained new transformations on Earth. Also, as you may remember Granolah also has a personal vendetta against Frieza which makes us believe he’ll come back for this arc as well. That aside, Gamma 1 might be working with Z fighters as well which provides us 7 super strong fighters against Black Frieza already. I personally believe Gohan should now be the one to lead the franchise, however, the chances of that happening seem bleak. They’ll most likely stick with Goku as protagonist for a couple of thousand years. Anyways, now let us talk about what Black Frieza might want and how this arc may turn into a multiversal battle.

Since his debut in DBZ, Frieza has only ever wanted power and the biggest throne he can get his hands on. Well, keeping that in mind his next target might be the seat of Beerus as the destroyer of Universe 7 or his ambitions may go as far as Grand Zeno’s seat. That said, it looks like we’ll surely see Black Frieza going up against Beerus in this arc and slowly progressing towards being the new Omni-King. Which means, Black Frieza might put multiverse at stake uniting the finest warriors in the multiverse against him. So its possible we might eventually see Jiren, Kefla, and other fighters from all universes fight together to stop Black Frieza. And while all this sounds amazing, question needs to be asked – does Black Frieza merit a threat of that level? A threat even Omni-King can’t deal with? It seems unlikely, however, the part with Frieza going up against Beerus does make sense. He has always shown a shady kind of interest in Beerus. Guess, we’ll have to wait and find out in the next chapter of Dragon Ball Super!
