After Dune 2 and Kung Fu Panda 4 revived 2024 for us, it is now time for the monsters to take over as we’re getting a new Monsterverse movie just at the end of March – Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. There is always hype around a Monsterverse film and same is the case with The New Empire. In fact, as two new villains have been introduced in the sequel – Skar and Shimo, the anticipation of the film has been off the charts. My Reddit has gone crazy with the leaks of the new film. But we’ve often received disappointment from the Monsterverse, so I think it is fair to ask the question – Is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire worth the hype?
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire First Review Goes Live!
As we all know the review embargo for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has not lifted as of now, so many critics who have seen the film at private screenings can’t comment on it. The official world premiere of the film also hasn’t taken place yet. Whenever the media embargo of the film lifts up we’ll get unfiltered reviews from reputed critics.
However, for now we have an unknown user on Twitter who claims to have seen the Godzilla vs Kong sequel and has expressed his thoughts about it. Monsterverse fans won’t be pleased with his review as he has bashed the film quite a bit. However, to be fair he did admit that regardless of the flaws, The New Empire is a highly enjoyable action flick.
I can’t vouch for the guy’s credibility but honestly his review seems quite specific and non generic. In fact, he does go into specifics at the end as he talks about the monsters’ height and scale been negated because of the setting and lack of miniature humans. If his review is to be trusted then Godzilla x Kong sounds a lot like previous Monsterverse movies that have come out.
Nothing extraordinary is in it for us to go crazy. What is strange that his review doesn’t mention Shimo at all – the big baddie of the film who has been kept in the shadows. His absence from the review can’t be a positive.
