Scarface: The World Is Yours is an action-adventure video game developed by Radical Entertainment. It came out nearly 15 years ago in 2006 for PlayStation 2, Xbox and Microsoft Windows and was published by Vivendi Games. An enhanced version of the game with better graphics was also released for the Wii in 2007. An Xbox 360 port for the game was also being developed but it lever saw the light of day. Same was the case with its sequel Scarface 2 which was set to release in 2008 but was later cancelled.
Why Was Scarface 2 Cancelled?
Once you view the footage, you will also be asking the same question as the gameplay looks pretty decent and something fans would have enjoyed a lot. A few weeks ago, the same channel uploaded an unreleased trailer of sorts. And now here, have a look at the gameplay footage below.
The concept and the story seems fresh and new with a Latin American drug lord going up against an Italian Mobster. Fans were pretty vocal about disliking Activision’s move of cancelling this game on Reddit. Anyways, what’s done is done now but it really seems like this franchise requires a comeback. As you might know the game is based on Scarface movie featuring Al Pacino as Tony Montana which was in turn based on the life on Al Capone.
The first game received generally positive reviews and worldwide acclaim and featured André Sogliuzzo as the voice of Tony Montana who looked very much like Al Pacino. But even after getting a warm reception, its sequel wasn’t released. Not just Scarface 2, but a Scarface 3, a Scarface 4, and consecutive iterations of game were also planned but didn’t make it. The reason behind this was that the rights to the property were transferred to Activision Blizzard on July 10, 2008 and they put it on hold. Later these rights went to Universal Pictures and once again, there was no word about Scarface 2 or anything else relating to the franchise.
But now all that is history and all that’s left of the game is this gameplay video and trailer.
