Thor: Love and Thunder social media embargo officially lifted last week and the first reactions were out, which you can check right here. The reactions and short reviews were overwhelmingly positive with only good things to say about the film. From its hilarious and emotional storyline to the excellent visuals and a terrifying villain, every aspect of the film was being praised. Most of these reviews were calling it the best Thor / MCU Phase 4 / Marvel movie of all time. Anyways, now the entire plot of the movie has been leaked, and if you are the kind who likes to read such stuff, only then proceed. THE FOLLOWING SECTIONS CONTAIN MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER.
Thor: Love and Thunder Full Plot Leak
It comes as no surprise that the plot of the film has been leaked as many people and critics have already seen the Thor 4. As it happens, the film is emotional, funny an action-packed with some heart-breaking moments. As you might remember, Thor: Ragnarok was also quite hilarious but at the same time very catastrophic. It led to the demise of Thor’s friends (The Warrior’s Three), All-father Odin himself, the entire army of Asgard, Skurge (The Executioner) as well as the Planet of Asgard. Similarly, this film is also quite catastrophic as well as leads to major character deaths.
The movie opens with Thor on a mission with the Guardians of the Galaxy, who end up dropping him off at something of a rehab center. There he reunites with Korg and Meik. Later, Jane who has cancer visits New Asgard where the dwarven crafted Uru metal hammer Mjolnir reassembles itself after senses the presence of Jane. As you might remember Mjolnir was broken by Hela in Thor: Ragnarok and the Endgame Mjolnir was returned to its timeline.
So, in a gist yes, Jane becomes Thor and since she has cancer, Thor’s power make her body quite strong and healthy and acts as an escape. However, these affects last only as long as she’s using that form and ultimately that drains her in her human form and make her cancer and health worse.
On the other hand, Gorr is searching for the god Eternity after he lost his family and his motivation is that he wants his family back. But unfortunately he receives no answer, so Gorr finds the sword that can destroy the Gods and swears to kill them all just like we saw in the trailer. Gorr’s motivation becomes quite understandable and sympathetic but he still makes up for a terrifying villain.
Thor meets Jane and Valkyrie and they plan to stop Gorr. Hence, they visit the Gods of Olympus to try and warn Zeus but it as it turns out, Zeus is kind of evil and crazy. So they end up fighting him and Valkyrie ends up stealing his lightning from Zeus at the end of that fight. Zeus has often been depicted as semi-evil in many media interpretations like The Clash of the Titans or God of War series.
The Ending
Anyways, Thor realizes that Jane has cancer and that the Thor form is killing her. So naturally, he asks her to stop but she wants to help, no matter what. She expresses how being Thor is an escape for her and her her sad reality. So, they go for one final action packed fight with Gorr and Jane ends up destroying Mjolnir once again in order to stop Gorr. As a result, life drains from her body and she unfortunately passes on. This scene is heavily inspired from the comics where exact same thing happened but against a different villain – Mangog.
Gorr gets deeply touched by this act of sacrifice that Jane Foster Thor does as he realizes not all Gods are bad and decides against killing the remaining Gods. In doing so, he renounces his evil motives and then somehow (we don’t know), his daughter is brought back to life. But unfortunately he ends up dying in the process. Is it possible that it’s something like the Fountain of Youth concept? Or maybe Gorr kills himself? We don’t know exactly what kills him yet. Anyways, at the end, Thor and Gorr’s daughter take off together for all new adventures that might await them.
Thor: Love and Thunder Post Credits Scenes
There are two post-credit scenes in Thor: Love and Thunder. The mid-credits scene showcase a pissed off Zeus who wants revenge on Thor. Therefore, he sends Hercules on a quest to kill Thor, and this basically acts as a tease for Thor 5. The after-credits scene shows Heimdall welcoming Jane to Valhalla, to bask in her triumph and feast with the other Gods.
It seems like Thor: Love and Thunder is going to be quite emotionally packed, apart from being hilarious and high on action. But now the wait is almost over as Thor 4 is all set to release worldwide on 8th July 2022.
