Ted Lasso is an American Sports-comedy drama series that is currently streaming on Apple TV+. The show stars Jason Sudeikis in the lead role accompanied by Game of Thrones star Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, Keeley Hazeli, Brendan Hunt and Phil Dunster. The show debuted in 2020 and has had a run of 2 seasons until now with the third season right around the corner. The show’s premises is Ted who is an American football coach in Britain. What he lacks in knowledge he makes it up in his optimism, determination and biscuits. The show in its short run has been massively successful as it is beloved by fans and critically acclaimed. It even shone bright at the Emmys, it had 20 nomination and 7 Emmys in its 2 seasons. Seeing all this success it was disheartening for fans when the news came that the show might take our leave in the third season.
Ted Lasso To End With Season 3?
The show is set to return for another season and before the season debuts, the show writer and star Brett Goldstein revealed that from the inception of the show, the series was only supposed to run for three seasons. At least that was the plan. But recent developments suggest otherwise. Ted Lasso Season 3 kicked off production earlier this year and series co-creator Brendan Hunt has his say on the show’s future.
“Yes. Another arc is possible after this, for sure. We have always seen it as some kind of three-beat thing. Originally those three beats were more going to be modeled on what [the British] The Office did, you know, six [episodes], a special, boom, we’re done. We’ve certainly expanded those beats, but it does not mean that the whole kit and caboodle is getting chucked.”
He also teased a time jump in Season 3, “Well, we don’t like to do the same thing twice. In Season 1, we joined the [Premier League] season in January. In Season 2, we joined the season in late September. We’ve never gone from the start of a season, so perhaps that’s something we want to get to. And just by dint of how the schedule works in the English Premier League, we will play West Ham twice – home and away, because that’s how it goes.”
He further added, “We are definitely starting later this year than in Season 2, that’s for sure. So I would be surprised if our delivery dates were the same. That’s above my pay grade, I don’t know for sure, but I do have a vague understanding of the limits of this dimension we call time, and I would say it seems pretty unlikely that we would [premiere] as early this year.”
This will be one of the few shows like Schitt’s Creek that will end right at the peak of its popularity rather than waiting for it to die out. That is if they end the show with the third season. Let me know what do you think about this. Should Ted Lasso end by the 3rd Season or should it go on for more seasons?
Ted Lasso Season 3 doesn’t have a Premiere date.
