Disney+ has a young adult fiction series currently in production based on The Invisible Girl. According to Variety, Beta Films partnered with Morena Films to bring the show to Disney+ Spain and secure international distribution rights. Following the trend of many new television shows, The Invisible Girl is a part of a trilogy of wildly popular YA novels by Blue Jeans, which will be adapted into an eight-hour series.
The Invisible Girl: Plot and Other Details
The story follows Aurora Ríos, the ‘Invisible girl’, who has the perception that others don’t actually notice her. But after she goes missing and turns up dead next to a compass, two of her classmates, Julia and Emilio, start looking into her murder. The series, initially published in Spanish, is now being filmed in Carmona, Seville, in the south of Spain. El Viso del Alcor and Gerena provinces are two other shoot locations.
Created by Morena Films, the show will see Daniel Grao and Zoe Stein playing father and daughter in the slightly altered plot. They will try to uncover the circumstances surrounding the invisible girl’s murder against the beautiful backdrop of the imaginary Andalusian town of Cárdena. The shocking murder shakes the seemingly peaceful village, and the father-daughter duo is compelled to put their issues in perspective in order to help in the investigation.

The Executive Producer of Morena Films, Pedro Uriol, described the premise of the upcoming project by saying, “The Invisible Girl will surprise both fans of the novel and those who do not know the story yet. The young-adult thriller is mysterious and exciting with a sensational cast and a purely cinematic look. Father and daughter need to overcome their differences to solve a murder case that has shaken the peaceful lives of the inhabitants of Cárdena: it is a character-driven story which will captivate viewers visually and emotionally.”
When discussing the show’s characters, Andreas Khevenhüller-Metsch (VP of Sales & Acquisitions at Beta Films) also stated, “With its extremely powerful IP and talented creatives, ‘The Invisible Girl’ is a project that caught our attention since the very beginning. This mystery thriller series is enhanced by its true-to-life characters. Set in the visually stunning South of Spain, it combines all ingredients to go on and thrive internationally as the next Spanish must-watch show.”
The Invisible Girl will make its debut on Disney+ Spain. Despite having no specified release date yet, fans of the series are eagerly awaiting its transition from the page to the screen.
