Hello arselings, how have you been? It has been around 2 years since The Last Kingdom season 4 but the wait is finally over as the final season is all to set to arrive. We didn’t hear much from Netflix about it but it is much closer than any of us expected it to be. The Last Kingdom season 5 or the final season will hit Netflix on 9th March 2022 which is under a month away now. If you haven’t yet, check out the gloriously epic trailer down below.
The trailer for season 5 looks quite destructive and dark for our protagonist Uhtred portrayed by Alexander Dreymon. Brida, who has been quite problematic and annoying since season 3 seems to be bloodthirsty for Uhtred. We see them going toe to toe against one another in the trailer, and from the looks of it Uhtred’s children don’t look safe. Fans of Bernard Cornwell’s novels know that destiny didn’t have good things in store for Uhtred’s children, so the trailer looks worrisome. This season is being adapted from the final two novels in Cornwell’s The Saxon Stories but don’t worry, it isn’t the end.
Seven Kings Must Die
Hear me and rejoice, as The Last Kingdom Season 5 will not be the end of the fan-favorite dark period drama series. Due to the immense love critics and fans have showered upon it, The Last Kingdom will return for one final goodbye. To conclude this epic tale of destiny, a feature film called Seven Kings Must Die is being produced. The film will feature many main characters including Uhtred as well as a few new characters and will debut on Netflix sometime next year. It is a 2 hour feature film written by Martha Hillier, produced by Nigel Marchant, Gareth Neame and Mat Chaplin, and directed by Ed Bazalgette.
“It’s been such a privilege to tell Uhtred’s story for five seasons. I’m so grateful to our fans. They have been immensely loyal to ‘The Last Kingdom’ and thanks to their support, the TLK team is getting together for another round. It’s going to be an epic end to a wonderful journey,” Dreymon said.
Seven Kings Must Die will be produced by Carnival Films and distributed by NBCUniversal Global Distribution. It remains to be seen whether the film will be a follow on to Season 5 or will be a separate spin off film. As for Season 5, we might finally see the formation of the England which Alfred dreamed about with Athelstan as the King. Also, we have been dying to see Uhtred finally take over Bebbanburg, which is technically his birthright. Well, we won’t have to wait much longer as the final season arrives next month only on Netflix. Destiny Is All!
