As you may know, Russell Crowe’s Zeus made an appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder after Thor assembled with Jane and Valkyrie to stop Gorr. They visit the Gods of Olympus to try and warn Zeus but it as it turns out, Zeus was kind of selfish and outrightly rejected their plea. So, they ended up fighting him and Thor ended up almost killing Zeus at the end of that fight and stealing his ThunderBolt. Obviously, this leaves him humiliated and pissed off at Thor and co. So, in the mid-credits scene, the frustrated and angry Zeus summons his son Hercules, and orders him to go after Thor, hence setting up Thor 5. Watch this mid-credits scene for yourself here.
Will Brett Goldstein Return As Hercules After Thor: Love and Thunder?
“They beg you for mercy without ever knowing if you’re listening. Now, they look to the sky – they don’t ask us for lightning, they don’t ask us for rain. They just want to see one of their so called super heroes. When did we become the joke? No…no, they will fear us again when Thor falls from the sky. Do you understand me, Hercules? Do you understand me my son?”, asks Zeus to which Hercules replies, “Yes, Father.”
That is pretty much all we see of Hercules in the film and 2 words is all we hear from him. Actor Brett Goldstein played the role of Hercules in Thor: Love and Thunder post-credit scenes. So, it is pretty obvious that fans expect Brett Goldstein to return to play Hercules in Thor 5 and other future MCU projects. Till now not much was known about the fate of Hercules in MCU but since it has been around 2 weeks since its release, Brett Goldstein has finally shed some light on his role. In a recent interview with Variety, Goldstein made known his obliviousness on the matter.
I truly, honestly — this isn’t me lying or being coy — I know nothing. All I know is what I did that day and that’s it. That could be it. It was a fun three seconds.
Well, even though he might not know about it, but we assure you that he will surely return as Hercules in MCU and honestly, he looked the part as well! It seems like these two Demi-Gods, Thor and Hercules, from Norse and Greek mythology will go up against each other in Thor 5. If you are a comic reader, you know Hercules and Thor will later on become friends and have each other’s back. We’ll see how much of that translates on screen pretty soon though, so until next time!
