A board game based on the Netflix hit show Stranger Things will be released by CMON. This Thursday, CMON Games revealed that Stranger Things: The Upside Down would be available in 2023. Rob Daviau, the creator of Return to Dark Tower, Cthulhu: Death May Die, and Pandemic: Legacy, has designed the game. Players in the cooperative game Stranger Things: The Upside Down attempt to rescue Hawkins from the Upside Down. Daviau mentioned that the Duffer Brothers had played the new game during the video announcement of the title (made during Dice Tower’s Summer Spectacular).
Another Stranger Things Board Game Is Coming Next Year
Stranger Things: The Upside Down is the second big announcement made by CMON in recent weeks. The board game publisher also revealed a new Dune game that puts the Fremen against the Harkonnen occupiers of Arrakis.
The fact that Francesco Nepitello and Marco Maggi, two of the creators of the hit War for the Ring, designed Dune: War for Arrakis makes it noteworthy. Nepitello stated that War for the Ring’s gameplay elements will be used in Dune: War for Arrakis, which will also have a Sandworm monster.
After the show’s fourth season aired, several additional Stranger Things board games have already been released or will come out this year. A party game by Asmodee will pit players against one another to determine who is under the grip of the Mind Flayer. A Stranger Things version of Monopoly that was released earlier this year garnered considerable criticism for spoiling key aspects of the season.
Stranger Things: The Upside Down will be launched in 2023.
