GTA 6 Female Protagonist, Fans React

A massive GTA 6 report containing details regarding the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game surfaced online recently. This report mentions two protagonists, one of whom is a woman. Although a female protagonist is not a first for the series, it has been a while, and there haven’t been any since the show reached its current level of cultural relevance.

Fans Are Mocking People Upset Over The GTA 6 Rumors

Other details in the article included the game’s release date and the fact that it would be set in Vice City, the series’ fictional version of Miami. That being said, the Latina female protagonist has captured the attention of a large portion of Twitter, Reddit, and other online communities. Little is known about her other than that she and the other protagonist are inspired by the notorious bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde.

Following the report’s publication, Rockstar Games has come under fire for the female protagonist, particularly in light of the statement that “developers are also being cautious not to ‘punch down’ by making jokes about marginalized groups.”

Unsurprisingly, the term “woke” has been used to describe this criticism. Even though there has been some criticism of the company over the report, there has been much support for and praise of Rockstar Games’ choice to have a female protagonist and to be more sensitive when making jokes about other people.
