Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series is one of the most influential pieces of fiction for anyone born in the early 2000s. After the success of the first book in 2005, Riordan created an entire saga that exploits Greek mythology and places them in the modern world. After the first book, Riordan added another 4 noteworthy sequels to the series. The Percy Jackson saga came to an end with the series’ last book in 2009, Percy Jackson and The Last Olympian. Once the book series had culminated there were attempts to make the books into movies and create another powerful IP like Harry Potter. The book series’ success was certainly something that backed this idea. The first movie came out in 2010 and it adapted the first novel- Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. I think everyone agrees that it was one of the worst adaptations ever.
Nevertheless, they tried to make this a franchise and made a second movie that adapted the second novel Percy Jackson and The Sea of Monsters but when that film crashed as well I think the studio understood. Since then there were no attempts to adapt the Greek Mythology inspired book series until Disney+ decided to make it into a show. A show seems like a better format for such material as a movie would be too confining. It looks like the novels would finally get a well deserved faithful adaptation. Today we have our very first look on the sets of the show and the three main characters filming together. Let’s see what we can understand from these leaked set photos.
Percy Jackson and The Olympians Leaked Set Photos!
Percy Jackson and The Olympians is currently in its filming stage. The filming is taking place in Vancouver, Canada but the sets have created a little New York in Canada. The show’s main cast is seen filming on these sets. The main trio cast for the show has brought quite a lot of backlash as fans think they either don’t suit the part they’re given or the casting is done for fulfilling woke agenda. Regardless, the series author has come out multiple times in public to defend the main cast, he believes the ones they’ve gotten are the best and will do a terrffic job. He certainly has a lot of faith in them.
The set photos reveal the Empire State Building where the modern day Olympus is. The sets even have the a Hades advertised taxi- Hades Hot Tubs, that maybe just set decoration but it is important to point out. This bright yellow car reminds me the gang’s interaction with The Fates and The Eye. The main cast of the show are seen wandering these sets. When it comes to the scenes at Mount Olympus itself, that will probably be filmed elsewhere on the sound stages alongside The Volume tech.

The confirmed cast of the Disney+ series is Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabath, and Aryan Simhadri as Grover.
Percy Jackson and The Olympians is likely to debut on Disney+ in late 2023 or 2024.
