A finale to end it all! If you have seen this week’s episode of Better Call Saul, you know what I am talking about. If you haven’t, then I’d like to say two things to you. Firstly, what exactly is stopping you from watching this gem of a show on time? Secondly, the article follows massive spoilers for Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 13, which effectively ends the series as well as marks the potential end of the Breaking Bad universe. Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 13 – Saul Gone is All Gone
So, that’s how this story ends. Can’t say we didn’t see it coming but it was incredible to witness that on screen. We all knew Saul was going down but what I loved about this finale was even though he went down, his character was redeemed. It looked like he was going to act all mean and con-man-ish during the hearing but what he did left most viewers sobbing. Not only did he ensure Kim walks free, he pleaded guilty to every crime he ever committed.
I especially loved how he chose to own his psychological involvement in Chuck McGill’s suicide. He always knew he pushed him over the edge and finally 3 seasons later, he owned it and showcased his tender Jimmy McGill side. He also made it clear that he enjoyed working with Walter White and admitted his guilt in events that played out after. So, unlike Walter White, who went out with a bang, or Jesse Pinkman, who got the happy ending, Jimmy McGill aka Saul Goodman went out with an 86 years long sentence beginning his journey of redemption.
Upon pleading guilty to everything, he was able to restore some respect in Kim Wexler’s eyes and their relationship ultimately ended on a happy-sad note. Even though they’ll never be together again for the remainder of their lives, they were able to get some form of closure. I am glad the show’s final scene was shared by Jimmy and Kim as both of them made this show what it is and it’s fitting that the show ended with them. What bugs me a little though, is the fact that we didn’t get proper closure regarding Mike and Gus and for that most of us will be watching Breaking Bad again. Their loop was closed up a few episodes ago and honestly, its kinda okay we didn’t see them again.
The Cameos and the Future
The multiple cameos in this Better Call Saul final episode acted as cherry on top as we got to relish our favorite characters one last time. I particularly enjoyed the Walter White cameo the most. Bryan Cranston is still as amazing in this cameo as he was in Breaking Bad, and the way he genuinely got annoyed by Saul’s time travel question took viewers back down the memory lane. He shared his regrets with Saul and Saul shared an insignificant story in the name of regret which Walt called out. This scene added to more context and heart to the moment when Jimmy finally shared all his regrets and guilt during the hearing.
Marie Schrader also has an extended cameo and I have to say that Betsy Brandt also delivered a very passionate performance. Finally, Chuck McGill played by Michael McKean also had a flashback cameo which once again showcased the complicated relationship between the two brothers. Even after the series end, I still don’t know whether I like the character of Chuck or not, and that really shows the depth of the writing of this show. Also, it goes without saying that the show is a technical triumph and just like everything Breaking Bad, this season had brilliant camerawork, beautiful shots, and a perfect score.

Final Verdict – Better Call Saul season 6 Finale was as good as the entirety of this season and the show. There is absolutely no doubt that Better Call Saul is one of the best shows ever made and a its show which never ever stopped being good. This season, just like the final season of Breaking Bad, is the best of not just the series, but also one of the best of everything on TV right now and all-time!
