The Handmaid’s Tale is an Hulu original series that deals with a young fertile woman who is acts a concubine to a rich Gileadan officer and his wife, she wishes freedom and wants to be reunited with her daughter. The series started to rise to fame because of its brilliant subject matter and political relevance in this day and age. The series premise is extremely high concept and it really works in its favor. The series stars Elisabeth Moss, Bradley Whitford, Yvonne Strahovski, Max Minghella, O-T Fagbenle, Samira Wiley, Ann Dowd, Madeline Brewer, Amanda Brugel, and Sam Jaeger. After Season 4’s surprising end fans had been waiting for the next season of the show. Season 5 of the show is coming out next month but so far we hadn’t gotten promotional material until today. The official poster and trailer for the upcoming season was just released by Hulu.
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5: All small questions regarding the book
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 poster is Elisabeth Moss looking directly at us. The dress she has is white outside the water but it fades into red after it touches the water beneath her. There is even a tag line for the season, I guess. “Some sins can’t be washed away.” I think the tag line directly references what happened last season. Moss’s character- June killed Commander Waterford. She understandably murdered him after suffering so much. This season would be about June facing the consequences of the same.
Will her sins be washed away? That is the question. The trailer of the show looks amazing as well. It has the same biblical vibe to it. It looks visually haunting and Elizabeth Moss is brilliant as always. I’m really excited for this season.
Here’s the official poster of the The Handmaide’s Tale Season 5:
The official series description reads something like, “June faces consequences for killing Commander Waterford while struggling to redefine her identity and purpose. The widowed Serena attempts to raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead’s influence creeps into Canada. Commander Lawrence works with Nick and Aunt Lydia as he tries to reform Gilead and rise in power. June, Luke, and Moira fight Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to save and reunite with Hannah.”
Genevieve Angelson who will play Ms. Wheeler in the upcoming season, from the looks of it she is the villain of the show. The actor talked about her process to get into the role of Ms. Wheeler, a supposed villain, “I am tempted to say that, in reality, there are no villains and while [Yvonne Strahovski’s] Serena is ‘the bad guy’ on the show, Serena also is coming up with very painful solutions to a very painful problem,” Angelson explained to TVLine. “In order to play Mrs. Wheeler, I couldn’t say, ‘I’m playing a bad guy.’ I had to say, I’m playing someone who’s willing to do anything to continue the human race, and that’s what we’re up against. So, do I want to be the person I am being? Maybe not. But I am accepting that is my reality, that is what I’m doing. That was how I got by with that.”
