Disney’s biggest fan event that happens bi-yearly – D23 Expo 2022 has started and the biggest studio in the entire world has made some big announcements. The event is supposed take place in the Anaheim Convention Centre from 9th September 2022 to 11th September 2022. Today was day 1 and it was not a cold one we’ve gotten some pretty saucy announcements. Today’s announcements were mostly surrounding upcoming animated movies from Pixar and Disney’s live action adaptations of their classic animated films. Let’s list down all the announcements that happened on the first of D23 Expo 2022.

Disney’s D23 Expo Day 1 Announcements: Inside Out 2 Announced!

The sequel to the highly successful Inside Out is in very early stage of production right now. The sequel just like the original might take place in Riley’s head with all her emotions from the first film returning. Amy Poehler came out on stage to announce the sequel. While the film doesn’t exactly have a release date but it is definitely coming out sometime in 2024.

D23: Disney’s Original Film Wish Announced!

Disney closed the show by announcing a new original film that will come out in 2023 and it is meant to celebrate the 100 years of Disney’s storytelling. The film will have original characters and songs. The film’s story is about how the wishing star came to be. The film will be set in a fantasy world that outdates every Disney world as it will be the world of wishes.

D23: Pixar Announced Elio, a New Sci-Fi Film!

The film is supposed to be come out in Spring 2024 and it stars America Ferrera as Olga Solis and Yonas Kibreab as Elio. The film’s plot revolves around a kid who has become Earth’s brand ambassador for what is basically United nations for aliens. He is trying to prove that the best part of being a human is to be yourself.

Disney Announces Iwaju while partnering with an Outside Studio!

Iwaju will be the first time where Walt Disney Animation Studios is partnering with a new. The series is set in Africa and is made with the intent  of showing why Lago is such an unique city. It is suppose to be a love letter to Nigeria. It will tell the story of a wealthy heiress and a poor boy. Iwaju is set to arrive in 2023.

D23: Pixar Announces Long-Form Series Win or Lose!

Win or Lose is a new animated series that will focus on a basketball team called Pickles. Each episode of the series is supposed to focus on a different character. Will Forte will voice Coach Dan in the series. An exclusive clip showed Frank trying to ask a woman out for coffee, before being turned down.

Elemental Movie Gets A Trailer!

The Good Dinosaur director Peter Sohn is helming another Pixar film that will focus on a Ember, a fiery character, and Wade a chilled water character and how they discover their similarities despite their differences. The film got its first trailer and the is supposed to release in 2023. Leah Lewis will play Ember, while Mamoudou Athie will play Wade. In an exclusive look at the showcase, Pixar showed a scene of the two learning a bit about each other as they walked through Element City.

D23: First Footage of Little Mermaid Released!

The first official teaser of the Little Mermaid’s live action remake is released by Disney. Apart from this the audiences in person also got osee glimpses of Part of Your World, the most iconic song from the original animated film. Before this we’d only seen one image from the production of the film. The Little Mermaid also stars Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Melissa McCarthy as the evil Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and more.

Mufasa: The Lion King’s First Trailer Revealed!

Barry Jenkins- Moonlight director will helm the prequel to the beloved animated film The Lion King. The film’s story will revolve around orphan Mufasa and his struggle to reach royalty. Mufasa is one of the greatest kings of the Pridelands. The footage shows baby Mufasa being washed away by a flood. The film will use the same animation technology from the 2019 The Lion King remake. The film is slated to release sometime in 2024.

Live-Action Snow White film announced!

The new Snow White live-action film will be directed by Marc Webb and will have an amazing cast including Rachel Zegler, who is playing Snow White, and Gal Godot, who is cast as the Evil Queen, both appeared at the D23 showcase. Gadot even showed her evil laugh that she’ll use as the queen. A brief teaser of the film was shown as well. The film come out in 2024.

First Look at Peter Pan & Wendy!

We’ve gotten our first look at David Lowry’s adaptation of the classic J.M. Barrie novel. Alexander Molony, Ever Anderson, and Jude Law appeared on stage to talk about the film as well. A glimpse of Neverland and real world London was also shown. The film is slated to coming out in 2023.

Disenchanted Movie: Cast & Trailer Revealed!

 

Disenchanted- the sequel to 2007’s Enchanted’s first trailer was revealed and the entire cast of the original film is returning. Amy Adams, Maya Rudolph, Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel, Yvette Nicole Brown,    The first look at the movie shows Adams’ Giselle and Dempsey’s Robert move into a fixer-upper outside of the city. When Giselle is unhappy with how things are turning out, she wishes for a fairytale life, which of course, goes horribly wrong.

Hocus Pocus 2 Trailer Revealed!

Hocus Pocus 2’s new trailer was revealed. The film will come out this year on Disney+ (30th September 2022). The sequel has the original film’s cast returning including Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. The trailer shows a book being opened that summons the three evil witches after they’d being banished hundreds of years ago.

Disney’s D23 Expo has started and will take place between 9th September 2022 to 11th September.
