Disney’s biggest fan event that happens bi-yearly – D23 Expo 2022 has started and one of the biggest studios in the entire world has made some big announcements. The ongoing event is taking place in the Anaheim Convention Centre from 9th September 2022 to 11th September 2022. Today was day 2 and after all the announcements from Disney and Pixar from Day 1, today we had some cool Marvel Studios and Lucasfilms announcements. While the panel didn’t reveal as much for the audience as SDCC 2022 but it had some pleasant surprises lined up.

Marvel made it difficult to breathe at this year’s SDCC and D23 2022 as it poured in a bucket lot of information on the fans including Phase 5 and Phase 6 plans. While most of the information is public, certain trailers and footages were only showcased to the D23 audience and The Marvels was one of those trailers. Following is the promo footage for The Marvels and X-Men 97 along with the title concept of the upcoming MCU projects. To be clear, this is not “The Marvels Full Trailer” which was shown at the event. But we’ll be adding that too in a separate post. Till then, have a look at this short teaser promo of The Marvels and X-Men 97 and enjoy.
As for The Marvels full trailer, it opens on a space station named SABER. As Monica Rambeau flies towards a portal, Nick Fury calls to her, “What the hell are you doing?” The portal shoots her back towards the station and she lands on the Moon. The SABER staff asks where “Captain Rambeau” is. In the following scene, Kamala Khan is aggressively teleported out of her room in a swirl of purple energy. In her place comes Carol Danvers. Monica explains to Kamala that their powers are intertwined and they’re swapping places with each other; wherever Captain Marvel was before, Kamala is now.
The scene returns to the cosmic; Kamala freaks out at the sight of Captain Marvel’s pet cat Flerken, Goose. All three superheroines travel through space, and Ms. Marvel fights in a space station. Next comes a glimpse of a new, female villain (possibly Hala) holding a hammer similar to that of the late Ronan the Accuser. Kamala says the three of them are a team, but Carol disagrees. Still, there’s plenty of funny banter between the three.
When they throw down with rock paper scissors, Kamala and Monica swap places. Kamala asks, “now why would you say ‘go’ if you wanted us to go on three?” Kamala and Monica swap places again and when Kamala lands in the station and takes Monica’s place, she geeks out about meeting Nick Fury. When Fury and agents show up at Kamala’s house, her family, on the other hand, is bewildered by their presence and Kamala’s disappearance. The Marvels is set to release in theaters on July 28, 2023.
