Fantastic Four

Marvel Comics’ first superhero family: The Fantastic Four are entering the MCU. They’re definitely one of the most famous Marvel characters in the comics. I would like to say the same about their adaptations but we all know how that story goes. Until now there have been three attempts to make a Fantastic Four film. The first was in way back in 1994, you might not have heard about it. The second attempt was in 2004 and despite the film being absolutely mediocre, it got sequel- Fantastic Four- Rise of the Silver Surfer, which was equally bad if not worse. The last one, probably the worst attempt was in 2015. Fans had long given up hopes of seeing a good Fantastic Four film but after Disney acquiring Fox, the MCU has their rights.

It was very important for Marvel to make their reboot the best out there and given the competition, that shouldn’t be a hard job. Clearly Marvel knows this based on the amount of noise this reboot is bringing in. The news came from San Diego Comic Con’22 when Kevin Feigi announced that there was an official Fantastic Four reboot coming in MCU’s Phase 6. However, we were unaware of the film’s cast, crew or literally anything else. There have been many names associated to this project, even the great Steven Spielberg was rumored to helm the reboot. Thankfully at Disney’s D23 Expo, Kevin Feigi announced that WandaVision’s director Matt Shakman would be helming the reboot. However, no cast was announced even if it was heavily rumored. If not at D23 Expo then when can Marvel announce the cast?

When Will Fantastic Four’s Cast Will Be Revealed?

As excited as we were for D23 Expo 2022 Day 2, when Marvel would finally tell us who have they deemed worthy of taking on the roles of some of the biggest comic book characters. Just days before the Marvel panel it was almost confirmed that the cast would be revealed. However, on the stage Kevin Feigi simply announced Matt Shakman as the director and said he has no further updates on the film. This doesn’t mean they’ve not selected a cast, they definitely have.

However, reports suggests that Feigi is waiting for Shakman’s take on the cast and only after his opinion would any further action will be taken. While there have been many wild guesses and rumors to whom Marvel is going to cast like Pen Badgley as Mr. Fantastic and Saoirse Ronan as Sue Storm but the latest reports suggests that Marvel has played it very safe and assembled an extremely fan pleasing cast including John Krasinski reprising his role as Mr. Fantastic, Jodie Comer as Sue Storm, Ross Lynch as the Human Torch and Seth Rogen as the Thing. Honestly, this is a lot better than the earlier rumors.

Now that Marvel has refrained from announcing the cast at D23 Expo 2022, when can they announce it? I don’t think they’ll just release it in the press. They would it at an event or through a movie. Here are my top 4 guesses when they’ll announce the cast.

Fantastic Four John Krasinski Will Not Return, According to Latest Casting Leaks!

  1. Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania’s Post Credit Scene. This makes sense because of the rumors that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s post credit scene will introduce Dr. Doom to the MCU the next film introduces his nemesis. Feigi had also mentioned that Quantumania would directly tie in with Avengers 4 and I assume Fantastic Four have major role in that movie so they can be introduced in this film.
  2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s Post Credit Scene. If not the first film of Phase 5 then I think the second film is a safe bet. The third guardians film is anyways going to introduce a lot of characters like Adam Warlock and the High Evolutionary so a post credit scene dedicated to the Fantastic Four is a high possibility. Vol. 3 would be the last of the Guardians films so the post credit scene can tease the future.
  3. San Diego Comic Con 2023. This has to be the most likely scenario as Marvel Kevin Feigi love to announce anything in front of a horde of fans. SDCC is one of the biggest fan conventions in the world and Marvel always make sure they come up with exciting to make fans feel their money and time was worth it. So, Feigi announcing the cast a year later than rumored would make fans go crazy. Especially if it is the above mentioned cast.
  4. The Marvels’ Post Credit Scene. I mean if not here then where? Marvel can’t announce the cast later than this. It will kill the buzz going around currently they have to capitalize on this. The Marvels’ is Marvel’s last chance to announce the cast of the Fantastic Four reboot through a post credit scene.

The Fantastic Four reboot is slated to release in theatres on 8th November 2024.
