Father Stu Mark Wahlberg Attends The Special Screening and Early Reviews

In a world dominated by Superhero films and high octane thrillers, it is very easy to miss a simple drama film like Father Stu. Usually such films attract attention only when they receive widespread critical acclaim. What happened with this year’s The Power of the Dog by Netflix is one such example. But the few who have been following this film have high hopes from it. So, if you haven’t yet, check out its trailer below.

Father Stu is based on the true life story of boxer-turned-Catholic-priest Father Stuart Long. It is all set to release on April 13, 2022 and will mark the directorial debut of Rosalind Ross. Mark Wahlberg (The Departed, Transformers) will be portraying the titular role. Also, a little piece of trivia is that he has portrayed another real life boxer Micky Ward in The Fighter (2010). Anyways the film has conducted a few special screenings and has received positive early reactions. One such screening was conducted for students at Loyola University of Chicago and Mark Wahlberg joined it.

There haven’t been many reviews for film yet since it hasn’t been showcased to media outlets yet. But from such special screenings there have been some reactions. For example, Nationreview.com praised Mel Gibson’s performance as Fr. Stu’s father. Also, entertainment.ie rates it 3.7/5 from 9 reviews. We’ll get to know how the film turns out to be pretty soon. Until then check out rest of our coverage!
