Naruto needs no introduction, even an anime illiterate person would know about Naruto simply because of how famous the series and manga is. For most budding anime watchers, this is the first show they turn to before they fall in love with the form. There are three sets of the Naruto series, Naruto with nine seasons, Naruto Shippuden with 21 seasons and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations with four seasons which consist of ten episodes. However, if you’re someone like me who isn’t the biggest fan of animes but are intrigued by Naruto’s story then don’t worry there is a live action movie happening which will give us the story in a format we love – cinema.
Naruto Live-action Remake Finds Director!
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Lionsgate is behind a new live-action movie adaptation of Naruto. What has led the studio to go down this path? No one knows but it looks like a good decision given the astronomical popularity of the manga and anime. However, with great power, comes great responsibility. So, if they screw up this live-action remake, well then they’re done.
Although, the likelihood of this remake being is bad is miniscule given that it will be helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton. He co-wrote and directed the Marvel Studios movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The talented filmmaker has also taken the responsibility of penning down the remake for Lionsgate. I think he is a great choice for the film as he will nail the ratio of nostalgia and originality.
Additionally, Cretton will also produce the film alongside Jeyun Munford through his company, Hisako. The duo join Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Emmy Yu of Arad Productions, who are behind the studio’s upcoming video game adaptation Borderlands, and Jeremy Latcham (Dungeons & Dragons).
The Naruto Live-action remake doesn’t have a release date.
