Blue Lock is one of the top selling manga series in the world right now and sold over 1.2 Million copies in February (#1 Rank). It is written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro, illustrated by Yusuke Nomura, and revolved around, Ego Jinpachi who is hired by the Japanese Football Union to lead the team to victory in FIFA WC.. His master plan to lead Japan to stardom is Blue Lock, a training regimen designed to create the world’s greatest egotist striker. As it happens, its anime television series adaptation produced by Eight Bit premiered in October 2022 and that led to a huge boost in its popularity. It has dethroned Slam Dunk as best selling sports manga since December 2022, as well as every other manga in the world. From the last chapter, the ball went off flying… HIORI: We’re one step away from the goal, something is missing! Ubers Player: Pick it up! Loose ball! It’s Kunigami vs. Aryuu to the ball, and Aryuu beats Kunigami with a header. AIKU: Not yet… KAISER: Move The ball flew towards Aiku and Kaiser ISAGI: There! Isagi rushed forward before even Barou could have a chance. Hiori got the ball. ISAGI: Hiori! One more! HIORI *monologue*: If Isagi expects me to do it again… Then I’ll recreate it! One step beyond what he just imagined!! A new form of attack! One step ahead of the future that Isagi expects! However, Hiori reminded of his parents.
HIORI’S DAD: That’s right! Go, Yo! HIORI’S MOM: We’re expecting you! HIORI’S DAD: The best in the world, right, the best in the world! HIORI’S MOM: We believe in you! ISAGI: Hiori! Look at me! HIORI *monologue*: No, but Isagi brought me this far! ISAGI: Give it! EGO: Shoot it. HIORI *monologue*: Which future should I choose? Then Hiori remembered what Karasu said to him in the past. KARASU: Expect yourself. Make yourself excited, that’s the only way anything will start, you idiot. HIORI *monologue*: Ah… I see… I haven’t made any choices up until now… I’ve been running away from my future by blaming my parents, because that way I won’t get hurt, and because I’m afraid that if I no longer have a reason to play soccer, no one will love me anymore, and I’ll be empty! I’m such a pathetic human being… Pretending to be cool, how long will I keep running away… Stop living on someone else’s expectations as an excuse!
If it makes you feel empty, so be it! If I was really born to play soccer… this shot will become the future! Hiori unexpectedly shot for a goal. ISAGI: Hiori… AIKU: A shot? LORENZO: Oh, for real…. However, Sendo managed to stop it. IGAGURI: Fu- So close!! AIKU: Nice, Sendou! HIORI *monologue*: Ah… What the hell… I guess I wasn’t… born to play soccer… Despite the failed goal, it seems like Isagi “saw” something… ISAGI: Nice, HIORI… I found it… The super theory for victory…. “Isagi senses a new chance of victory in Hiori’s unsuccessful shot! As Blue Lock is printed in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, a brand new chapter comes out each Tuesday/Wednesday.
