Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Reviews Roundup

Most of the fans as well as critics and influencers have pointed out that the film is a lot of fun but its animation suffers from 3D and CGI. Most of the fans were skeptical about it ever since 3D CGI animation was announced but it isn’t bad. Almost everyone said that the animation was great especially in some particular scenes, but at the same time, it was quite bad in a few scenes as well. One other issue was some unexplained transformations which is a consistent issue in everything Dragon Ball Super. But apart from that, the film was praised for its plot, fight sequences, and lots of fanservice for Gohan and Piccolo fans. Here, have a look at what reviews have to say for yourselves.

According to Anime New Network the film is “An enjoyable character study of one of Dragon Ball’s oldest (and most neglected) characters filled with tons of fanservice for longtime fans.” However, they pointed out its negative’s being, “Boring final villain, unearned transformation, some character arcs are a bit weak,” and gave it an overall B- score.

To answer the question about of the film is worth watching, Mipon.org stated, “Besides the animation, yesssss. Overall, the plot is quite good and if you like Piccolo and Gohan you’ll love this movie ten times more. This movie was centered on Piccolo, Gohan, and Pan, expanding their stories and giving them a chance to shine.”

Goresh also pointed out that CGI animation was very inconsistent and how in some parts like fight scenes they nailed it but in others, 2D would have been better. Still he gave the animation an overall score of 9/10 and went on to say, “Seeing what transpired at the end of the movie left me in extreme shock and I am very happy that it had that effect on me… Two thumbs up from me; this movie was very very good.”

“It is a unique take on Dragon Ball but it fits with the overall tone of the film which is mostly light hearted until things get serious,” stated Geekdom101. He went on to say, “The camera angles in this movie are bonkers and for the most part it (the movie) looks absolutely breathtaking, however, there are about 4-5 scenes where the CGI does not look good… I have to give this movie a thumbs up and I enjoyed this more than Resurrection F and there are 9-10 scenes in the movie that I can see the audience giving a standing ovation to.”

In a spoiler review, Havohei said, “I think this movie here has those same types of moments (fans love) and I enjoyed it as much as the Broly movie. Dragon Ball fans will enjoy it as well and I say, see it in a movie theatre and support this. I don’t think you have seen it, until you’ve seen it in a movie theatre.”
