John Wick Anime Spin-off

Good news for the John Wick fans, the franchise will be getting an anime spinoff! John Wick co-creator Chad Stahelski and Lionsgate Motion Picture Group’s Joe Drake assured the fans that there is a lot left in the further spinoffs and entries. Though there is no title and official release date yet, here’s all you need to know about the future of the franchise.

Creators On Potential John Wick Spin-Off

Speaking to The Playlist in an upcoming episode of The Discourse podcast, Stahelski revealed further plans with the franchise. “Lionsgate is having us develop the John Wick TV show, so we thought we could explore The High Table in that a little bit… We’re really looking forward to that; we’re really excited about it because we’re doing that and a Japanese anime.”

Added Stahelski, “I love Japanese anime so much. So to create all the cool stories that anime could achieve better than we could and the TV show to expand our world, we’ll still get our fix, you know what I mean? And we’ll still have all the fun.” He continued, “… look, I love the [TV] slow-burn too, but after six episodes, I would like something to happen in my TV shows, you know? So, to try and bring that to TV, what we do with features would be really exciting.”

As the John Wick franchise continues to expand, Joe Drake said Thursday on Lionsgate’s quarterly earnings call that, “On the Wick side we got multiple spinoffs and Wick Five. We started to work on [it] right when the writer’s strike started and we’ve gotten back to work as soon as it ended.” While Drake’s primary focus is on feature films, it’s plausible that by “multiple spinoffs” he was specifically referring only to additional films, but that’s just a conjecture for now.
